Make the connections to the ground and neutral bus bars before connecting the two hot wires to the new breaker. Reinstall the panel cover. Make sure the new double breaker is turned off before turning on the main breaker.

3. Run the sheathed cable to the appliance location and install the new receptacle box there.

4. Strip the cable sheathing away from the cable and run it into the outlet box using the appropriate bushing or connector. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation away from each conductor that will be used.

5. Make the ground connection. Insert the ground wire into the ground lug on the receptacle and firmly tighten the screw. In the illustrations, the ground lug is labeled "G".

6. Make the neutral connection next if there is one. Not all outlets have a neutral lug. Outlets with three lugs do not have a neutral (see Tips). In the illustration, these lugs are labeled "W".

7. Make the two hot connections. Insert the colored wires into the hot lugs and firmly tighten the screws. These lugs are commonly labeled with L1 and L2. It does not matter which hot wire is connected to which lug as long as both are hot and not neutral or ground.

8. Push the wires into the outlet box and screw the outlet to the box. Install the outlet cover and turn on the power to the outlet for testing.

9. Test the outlet using the neon voltage tester. The voltage between the two hot poles should be 240 volts. The voltage between one hot pole and the neutral pole (if there is one) should be 120 volts. Repeat the hot-neutral test between for the other hot pole. Finally, test the voltage between the ground pole and one hot pole. This should also be 120 volts.

You can use special glass paint to make your own for any occasion or for everyday use. Glass paints are heat-set, meaning they have to be baked on to keep them from wearing or flaking off. Instructions

1. Tape your stencil onto the glass with the painter's tape. You can purchase stencils from craft stores or cut your own from heavyweight paper using a craft knife.

2. Use a small paintbrush to fill in the stencil with the glass paint. If you make a mistake, remove the paint with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

3. Turn the glass upside down. Paint the bottom in a color that complements your design. Alternatively, stencil a matching pattern onto the bottom of the glass.

4. Set the glass on a baking sheet and allow it to dry for 24 hours.

5. Bake the glass to set the paint. Baking times and temperatures will differ by paint manufacturer, but the average is 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 to 40 minutes. Place the glasses into a cold oven, then turn on the heat; do not preheat first. Allow the glasses to cool thoroughly before using.

When looking for ways to control grubs in your lawn or garden, natural remedies are more attractive to many people than chemical pesticides. With these recipes for grub control, you don't have to worry about children or animals ingesting or absorbing pesticides, or adding unwanted chemicals to your garden-grown food and flowers.

Targeted Treatments

There are two main natural remedies to control grubs. These remedies are available in powder or granule form and are spread on your lawn on spots where grubs are a problem. The first is Milky Spore, a bacteria that specifically infects grubs and kills them but is harmless to other animals, humans and friendly insects. This remedy targets the white grubs of Japanese beetles, the most common lawn grubs, and is safe to use in gardens and around pools and wells. It also is used to reduce mole populations; moles' main food source is grubs. Similar, the second treatment is a targeted nematode solution, which is available for various species of garden and lawn pests, including grubs. The beneficial nematodes kill only grubs; they don't affect other insects, pets or people.

Home Recipes

A time-tested method of repelling bugs from a specific area is to collect 1/2 cup of the pest, in this case the grubs, drown them in water, then mash them up with 2 cups of water and strain out the liquid. Mix the "bug juice" with 2 more cups of water and a few drops of liquid dish detergent, and then spray the area you want to protect from grubs. For another recipe, mix 1 cup each of Listerine, water and liquid dish detergent with 2 cups of lemon juice. Spray this mixture on and around plants for which you want to get rid of grubs. Also try a homemade nicotine rinse, which is toxic to bugs of all kinds. Make a "tea" of boiling water and chewing tobacco. Let it sit overnight. Then strain out the tobacco, and spray the resulting insecticide on plants. This can be used in conjunction with the Listerine mixture, but wear gloves; the tobacco spray stains and can be absorbed through skin.

Natural Enemies

To control grubs further, add their natural enemies to your garden to drive them away or kill them. Insect-eating creatures such as frogs, snakes and rodents keep grubs under control, and birds and bats, in particular, seek out and eat grubs. Attract these animals to your yard by providing their habitat. That is trees and shrubs for birds and bats, or add a bat house on your property. Frogs, toads and snakes appreciate wet and cool areas, including fallen logs, pools and ground-cover plants. You also can spread a dehydrating dust treatment such as silica or diatomaceous earth over grub-infested areas; as the grubs ingest these dusts, they die. Use about 1/2 cup of powder per 1 square foot, and mix it into the soil about 6 inches down with a hand cultivator or aerating tool. This remedy also works for slugs, silverfish and other crawling insects.

Identify a Magic Chef Stove

1. Look for the distinctive style of authentic, antique Magic Chef stoves produced between 1929 and 1956, before the company merged with other brands. The first line of Magic Chef stoves was designed by Frank Alvah Parsons, the Director of the New York School of Fine Art and displays definite design elements such as sleek lines and rich, enamel colors unique to Magic Chef stoves.

2. Look for cabriole legs. Cabriole is a style of furniture leg that curves outward before narrowing downward into an ornamental foot. Cabriole legs are similar to the type of legs found on Queen Anne and Chippendale chairs. The legs often look like elegant claws holding small round objects within their grasp.

3. Locate elaborate cabinet and drawer pulls as these were part of the design that led the stoves to be called "Art Deco porcelain stoves." These pulls are like what was being used on furniture at the time and look similar to pulls used on William and Mary-era dressers, nightstands and curios.

7. Loosen or remove laces to open the shoes as much as possible, then set them out to air dry in an open area. Outside is fine, but keep them shaded from the rain or direct sunlight. Drying time varies, but expect them to take no less than 24 hours to completely dry out.
