Use A Pampered Chef Bundt Pan

Make a Bundt cake with a Pampered Chef stoneware fluted pan.

Bundt pans, also called fluted tube pans, create the shape for the eponymous cake. The Pampered Chef version of the Bundt pan is made from stoneware. This heavier material prevents uneven cooking and burned spots in cakes, but it requires special use and care. No adjustment to the cooking time or temperature compared to using metal fluted tube pans is needed, and you can use this stoneware pan to bake a cake in the microwave. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven as directed by your recipe.

2. Spray the inside of the fluted pan with cooking spray.

3. Fill the pan 3/4 full with prepared cake batter.

4. Bake as directed by your recipe. Most cakes will take between 50 to 70 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Alternatively, bake your cake in the microwave on high power for 10 to 13 minutes or until a fork inserted into the center comes out clean.

5. Cool the cake in the pan on a wire cooling rack for 10 minutes.

6. Run a flexible spatula around the outer and inner edges of the cake and turn the fluted pan upside down to release the cake.

7. Scrub the inside of the cooled pan with a nylon brush and hot running water. Do not wash the pan with soap or in the dishwasher. Soap gets into the pores of the stoneware and will taint the flavor of any foods baked in the pan in the future.

Installation Instructions For A Bosch Dishwasher Drain Hose

Take care when installing the drain hose to the house plumbing system.

The drain hose is an essential part of all dishwasher systems, providing an outlet for used water and waste. The drain hose can be connected to an "undersink" or "disposer" drain connection either directly or through an air gap. All Bosch dishwashers come packaged with the necessary fixings and attachments needed to connect the drain hose to the house plumbing.

Instructions

1. Switch off your Bosch dishwasher and unplug the system from the mains. Make sure that the water supply is switched off.

2. Inspect the Rubber Drain Hose Adapter that comes with your Bosch dishwasher. On one end you will find a raised groove at the edge. Attach the drain hose to the adapter by pushing it through the hole on the opposite side of this raised groove.

3. Ensure that the drain hose is inserted fully and attach the Silver Spring Clamp. Tighten the clamp around the adapter to secure the drain hose in place.

4. Attach the Gold Screw Clamp onto the other side of the Rubber Drain Hose Adapter, where the raised groove can be found.

5. Use the clamp to secure the drain hose to your drainage system under the sink. Alter the tightness of the clamps in place in order to sustain a strong connection between the drain hose and the house plumbing.

Move Large Furniture

Moving a couch.

Moving furniture takes planning. If you are moving large furniture, you may have to hire a professional mover. But, if you hire movers it will cost money out of your pocket. If you get some of your family and friends to help, you have to buy the pizza and beer. For most of us it is a great time to create memories with our family and friends.

Instructions

1. When you are getting ready to move, start by making a plan. Make a detailed list of what furniture has to be moved. Set aside furniture that will be trashed or donated to charity. Be detailed about what furniture is to go in which rooms when you get where you are going.

2. Have an assigned person to direct the moving on the big day. The day will go smoothly if you have someone with management skills to direct what goes when and where.

3. Check the local radio stations and online for programs that will allow you to sell or give away furniture that you won't need any longer.

4. Get a firm commitment from the people that are going to help move the furniture. Give them a call the night before to double check that they will be helping. The helpers are going to need food and drinks,. Having some ladies around to clean up the mess and make the food is an excellent idea.

5. Many of us do labor exchanges with our friends, neighbors and family members. Be "extra" kind to the guy that has the pickup truck. It also may be the case that you have hired a professional mover and you can take care of the minor items yourself.

6. The large pieces of furniture can be either the first or the last thing to move. One thing about it, if the large couch or refrigerator is inside the house, there is a way to get it back outside.

7. I recently had a refrigerator delivered to a third floor apartment. The doors had to be taken off of the refrigerator. And the door to the apartment had to be removed to get the refrigerator into the apartment.

8. Men seem to have a natural proclivity to knowing use a hand truck. Tip the refrigerator a bit to slide the lip of the hand truck underneath. Then secure the straps tightly around the refrigerator to hold it securely on the hand truck. Moving up and down stairs takes one guy in front to be the guide. And another guy behind the hand truck to do the pushing.

9. This job is completed when the doors to the refrigerator and the doors to the house are put back on and they are returned to good working order.

10. Moving a large couch takes more of the brawn and beef. Remove the sofa cushions. Tip the couch onto its back to remove the legs. Then three or four guys have to lift that sucker and get it out of the doorway and onto the truck. A hand truck just won't work with a couch. It takes "beef" and sweat to get a couch moved.

11. Moving a pool table follows a similar process. Remove any loose pieces from the table. Don't forget the pockets. If the table is the smaller size, the top of the table will be in one piece. Tip the table over on its side. Unscrew the legs and put the screws in a safe place. With the legs removed from the table top, the "beef and brawn" guys will be able to move it out the door and onto the pickup truck.

12. Follow the same steps for washers, dryers, stoves and dishwashers. These can all be moved easily with the hand truck. Be sure to tighten the straps securely on the hand truck.

13. When moving fine furniture like a large hutch, dining room table, or bedroom furniture it is essential that you protect the finish with blankets or other padding. A scratch in the tabletop of a friend will be remembered for a lifetime. Be extra careful when you are helping to move other people's furniture. If you damage your own furniture, you have to live with it.

Winterize Water Lines In Mobile Homes Not In Use

Winterizing your mobile home can protect it from frigid temperatures, especially if you aren't going to be at home. Because the pipes in mobile homes are more exposed to the elements, they are at risk of freezing and possibly bursting than homes that sit on solid foundations and have pipes that are underground and insulated. To prevent this from occurring, completely winterize your mobile home prior to the first frost in your area.

Instructions

1. Find all exposed pipes in and around your mobile home. Those outside are at the most risk for damage. Examples of these kind of pipes include outside faucets and water and drain pipes that enter the home through the outside.

2. Cover the gaps between the pipes and where they meet the wall or floor with spray foam insulation. Follow the instructions listed on the back of the container.

3. Wrap the outside pipes with heavy, thick rags or cloths. Tie them tightly and then wrap plastic wrap or bags over the rags. Securely tie both ends with heavy twine or wire ties. This will help to keep ice and wind seeping into the trailer through the pipe entry points.

4. Wrap any pipes underneath your home that are not insulated with sturdy, commercial pipe insulation. Many water companies have heat tape that you can purchase to insulate pipes as well.

Homemade Dish Soap Bee Trap

Prisoners of war

If you're sick and tired of heading out for some leisure time on the deck just to be swarmed by stinging bees and wasps, it's time to fight for your territory. Make your own bee traps to lure the insects away from areas that you frequent and where your children play. Although the concept may sound primitive, it works. Dish detergent will kill most detained insects. Survivors won't be able to fly with a coating of soap on their wings, and will drown. How you dispose of your captured stingers is entirely up to you.

Simple Devices

There are some simple traps that you can easily make by repurposing stuff you would otherwise throw away. Pat yourself on the back for keeping one more piece of plastic trash out of a landfill. Almost any empty plastic container will work fine. Soda bottles, milk or juice jugs, and even jelly jars make dandy bee and wasp traps. Feel free to experiment.

There are two different techniques to try when making insect entrance holes in homemade traps that require them. You can use an ice pick or screwdriver and just poke 1/8-inch to ¼-inch holes into the plastic. Or you can use a hobby knife to form ½-inch X's. If you do this, push the triangles formed by the cuts inward to form a small opening for bees and wasps to enter. The triangles inside the trap will make it very difficult for insects to exit the holes.

Repurposed Plastic Bee Traps

Remove the label from an empty plastic two-liter bottle. Cut the top three or four inches of the bottle off with strong scissors or a hobby knife to create a funnel. Combine ¼ cup of water with 2 tbsp. of dish soap in the bottom of the bottle. Remove and discard the lid, invert the funnel, and fit it firmly into the bottom section of the bottle. Pour a cup of sweet liquid like syrup, soda, juice, or sugar water into the funnel. Make sure that you slop it around to coat the funnel's inner surface and offer the bugs an aromatic attractant. Place your wasp and bee trap wherever the insects are currently hanging out.

For a trap that you can hang from eaves or tree limbs, there's a simple variation. Remove the label from the bottle and combine ¼ cup of water with 2 tbsp. of dish detergent and 1 cup of soda, syrup, sugar water, or juice in the bottle. Cap it and shake vigorously, coating the entire inner surface of the trap with the sweet, sticky fluid. Poke or cut a few entrance holes in it near the top. Tie a piece of twine around the neck of the trap and hang it in a problem location.

Try using the gluttonous tendencies of foraging bees and wasps to your advantage. The next time you finish a plastic container of jelly, jam, or preserves, make an effective trap out of it. Don't bother rinsing it because the material still stuck to the inside will serve as your bait. Poke or cut a few entrance holes in it near the top. Cap it and set or hang your trap wherever the insects have been terrorizing you.

Hornet Special

Hornets are different from bees and wasps in a lot of ways, but especially when it comes to food preferences. These aggressive nasties love meat and fish. This trap is perfect for areas where you won't have to be subjected to the odor of decomposing flesh, which you'll be using for bait. Although any meat or fish is accepted, it seems that for whatever reason salmon is an irresistible favorite. Use frozen bait, which is easier to cut and tie into place in the trap.

Make a few holes near the top of an empty two-liter plastic bottle. Pour two to three inches of water into the bottle and add about a tablespoon of dish soap. The detergent serves to break the surface tension of the water. That will cause the lightweight hornets to drown when they fall into it, rather than just floating around on top of it.

Drill a small hole in the bottle cap, and thread one end of a piece of string through the bottom of it. Cut a three-inch strip of frozen bait narrow enough to fit through the top of the bottle, and tie the free end of the string around it. Stuff the bait strip and six to eight inches of string into the bottle. Screw the cap into place and pull enough string through the hole to suspend the bait about an inch above the waterline in the bottle. Make a big knot in the string so that it won't slip through the hole.

Place or hang your homemade hornet trap in a location as far removed from your personal space as possible. Hornets are greedy beasts, and this trap capitalizes upon and exploits that characteristic. They tend to break off pieces of the bait that are too large for them to carry through the holes in the trap. Stubbornly resistant to giving up their hard-earned prizes, the avaricious little monsters will drop to watery deaths. The few that manage to escape with a small morsel of bait will return to their nest to share the loot and news about the feeding station with their friends. Hornets will return to your trap in swarms, and you're sure to catch 20 to 40 on a good day. Re-bait as needed.

Homeopathic Arthritis Bee Trap

You won't need a container or dish detergent for this tactic. You can simply choose to capture problem bees with your bare hands and allow them to sting you. Bee venom has been used for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases for thousands of years. Arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and tendonitis are all treated homeopathically with bee stings. It's believed that the more you allow yourself to be stung, the more you will promote desensitization to the pain of the stings. In fact, many sufferers of such illnesses actually raise their own bees just for this purpose. There are also beekeepers who retail the insects commercially for homeopathic consumers.

Automatic Dishwashers Vs Handwashing Comparison

Washing dishes within the washer saves energy and water over hands washing.

Utilizing a dishwasher rather than handwashing dishes can save you about 130 hrs during the period of annually. Time saving is not the only real factor you should think about when determining over a computerized dishwasher or hands washing your dishes. Water and usage -- and evaluating the potency of each process -- are things to consider.

Water Usage

Save much more water by scraping dirty dishes within the sink rather than rinsing all of them with water. Based on research from Bonn College, hands washing machines used about 140 liters water to wash 12 place configurations, in comparison to fifteen liters utilized by dish washers. That's a typical water savings of 90 % when utilizing a dishwasher. You mainly save water using a washer when managing a full load of dishes, and save much more water by scraping dirty dishes within the sink rather than rinsing all of them with water.

Cleaning Comparison

Dish washers use water that's warmer than many people may wish to take their hands into while washing dishes. Combined using the detergent, dishes cleaned inside a dishwasher come out cleaner with less bacteria. Based on the Bonn College findings, dishes from the dishwasher are as much as 19 percent cleaner than hands cleaned dishes.

Energy Usage

The majority of the energy employed for a dishwasher is perfect for heating water that cleans the bathroom. Search for "Energy Star" home appliances that save a minimum of 41 percent water and than is needed by federal standards. Conserve much more energy by air-drying out the bathroom rather than while using electric dry cycle. Just open the doorways in the finish from the cycle and pull the shelves outward.

Main Point Here

Help conserve water and assets by running your dishwasher when it's full. For many families, the dishwasher should have the ability to hold a whole day's dishes previously -- to ensure that should not be an problem unless of course you're planning an especially complicated meal that can take many containers and pans. Choose the right dishwasher you are able to for the money. It'll likely make use of the smallest amount water, yet still be more effective than should you run the new sink water yourself. Appliances tend to be more costly also often traverses cheaper models, so your dishwasher may ultimately cut back amount of time in a landfill.

Cures For A Smelly Fridge

Refrigerators should be seen, not smelled.

Whether you open the refrigerator door to the reminder of forgotten leftovers, buy a used model that's been neglected or lose power during a storm and have to throw out all the contents of your fridge, offensive smells can greet you every time you open the door. These smells, caused by mold, mildew and bacteria, not only curl your nose but can contaminate the contents of the refrigerator and freezer.

Take Inventory

Curing offensive odors in the refrigerator requires locating the source of the stink. Remove all the contents and discard anything that has expired, including milk, cartons of sour cream, cottage cheese, sauces, dips or old leftovers. Throw out produce showing signs of mold or rot. Discard any meat that is past its expiration date or has a sweetish, rotten odor. Check the freezer compartment as well, and discard anything that has passed expiration.

Clean Up

While you're taking inventory, it's a good time to give your refrigerator a bath. Remove drawers, shelves and other removable parts, and wash each one thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Give the empty refrigerator and freezer compartments, including the door compartments and gaskets, a thorough washing, also with warm, soapy water. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends rinsing everything in a sanitizing solution of one gallon of water mixed with one tablespoon of unscented bleach, including the refrigerator and freezer compartments.

Baking Soda Is Not Just for Baking

Baking soda has the power to absorb strong odors inside the refrigerator. Keep a fresh, open box inside the fridge, in a location where it won't be knocked over easily. Change boxes at least once every three months and discard the old box.

Soaking Up the Smell

Several materials will help to absorb strong, invasive odors. Fresh coffee grounds, cat litter, activated charcoal and even newspaper soak up smells in the same way as baking soda. Mrs. Clean recommends removing foods, then placing a shallow pan with a layer of grounds, litter, charcoal or baking soda in the refrigerator for one to two days on a low setting. The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends stuffing the empty refrigerator and freezer compartments with rolled-up newspapers to absorb lingering odors. Close the door and allow everything to sit undisturbed for one to two days.

Vinegar

If mildew has attacked, wash the compartments, doors, shelves, drawers and other parts with a solution of vinegar and water, in equal amounts. The FDA notes that the acid in vinegar kills mildew.

Smell Prevention

To prevent offensive odors from developing, you can do several things on a regular basis. Use sanitary wipes to clean shelves, doors and handles. Clean up spills when they happen. Use tightly covered containers, and keep bottles and jars closed to avoid spills. Monitor produce and leftovers, and discard items before they develop mold.

What Lengths Can A Dishwasher Be In The Sink

A dishwasher is a must-have in any advanced kitchen.

An robotic dishwasher is a advanced contrivance no one wants to subsist without. Sometimes accommodation a dishwasher into an old -- or a modest -- kitchen can be a dispute. If you get yourself with the pauperization to berth a dishwasher far from the sump, you may be projecting to acknowledge that it can be safely through.

Convenience

The obvious post for a dishwasher is veracious following to the kitchen sinkhole. Dishes and pots can be scraped and rinsed, so set in the dishwasher without moving your feet at all. Another lucid placement for a dishwasher is approach warehousing areas for dinnerware and pots. In bigger kitchens, a sec washer is sometimes situated in a centerfield island or cheeseparing nutrient preparation areas.

Distance

Calibre widget manufacturers billet fiddling or no restriction on how far out from a sinkhole you can establish their dishwashers. The whole leave admit measure, flexile cater lines and a drain hosepipe that are around Six feet farseeing. If you pauperism yearner pipes or hoses, you can ordinarily get them at habitation centers. You'll indigence to reckon where the lines leave deliver to visit irritate the sinkhole console. They may pauperism to ophidian ass or below over-the-counter cabinets. Your whole's proprietor's manual leave destine any limitations regarding gadget locating and aloofness.

Alternatives

If blank is your publication with dishwasher position, view a littler whole. Caliber, press, 18-inch-wide dishwashers pick dishes scarce too as their full-sized 24-inch cousins. Looker underdrawers -- dishwasher units that extract in two sections care knickers -- don't bear to be installed one on top of the otc. They can be installed in two break and commodious areas. You can besides establish fair a 1 dish drawer if your distance and washup inevitably are minimum.

Considerations

You get what you invite when it comes to dishwashers, so buy the outdo you can open. Timbre dishwashers bear stainless liners and plenty superpower to belt dehydrated egg and crisp lasagne noodles off pots and pans in one run. Prefer a dishwasher that allows an sparing warm race for dishes and specs, too as an extra-long race for encrusted pots and pans. If you get a dish drawer, you can payload one draftsman with dishes and the otc with pots and pans so they can be run on dissimilar settings.

Use sponges to have it as dry as you possibly can. Then, allow it to sit somewhere to dry up--ideally somewhere dry and warm. Provide a few days before changing battery. When the phone still does not work, it might still need use for repair, or alternative.

Why Repair?

Despite more costly mobile phones becoming common, the typical American still replaces his mobile phone every 18 several weeks. This really is resulting in a constantly-growing trouble with e-waste--electronic waste that's not recycled but sits in landfills or perhaps is shipped overseas. One fix for your problem would be to hold onto your electronics longer, and mobile phone repair is a terrific way to do that.

How The Heater Element Works In A Dishwasher

Dishwasher heating elements.

Heating Element's Purpose

When water first enters a dishwasher, it is cold. It is the heating element's job to warm the water up so it can clean the dishes. This heating element is built into the bottom of the dishwasher, and may or may not be visible when the dishwasher is opened. It is a tube-like device usually arranged in a circle or wave pattern, and is most often metallic or black in color. Some dishwashers keep their elements hidden underneath a panel or in the back of the washer where they cannot be seen.

Regardless of its position, the element is used to heat incoming water until it can be pumped into the washing mechanism. Most dishwashers have sensors that automatically detect the temperature of the water so it can be used only when it is hot enough. Heating elements are designed to heat water to around 140 or 150 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature scientifically proven to thoroughly clean dishes. If the heating element does not bring the water up to that temperatures range, it is not operating effectively.

Heating Process

When the dishwasher is turned on, water is pumped in from an outside source and deposited into the heating element's chamber or cavity. The heating element, no matter what shape it has, is connected with two prongs at either end into the inner circuitry of the dishwasher. Like an electric oven circulates electricity to heat burners, so the heating element runs a current of electricity between one inserted prong and the other. This electricity heats the metal, which in turn heats the surrounding water. Once the water is hot enough, it is pumped into jets that spray it from various locations in the dishwasher as part of the cleaning process.

Secondary Element

The dishwasher may also have a secondary heating element. While only one heating element is needed to heat the water, the second heating element may be used to help warm or dry the dishes. In this case, the element heats surrounding air, which is then blown through a fan onto the dishes.

Shake Up Liquid Dishwasher Detergent

Dishwashers not only save time; they also eliminate bacteria by sterilizing glasses and dishware better than hand washing can. The most essential element of any dishwasher is the detergent that is placed into it, which is available in both liquid and powdered forms. One problem with liquid detergent is that if it sits for an extended period of time without being used, it separates and must be remixed before using.

Kenmore Refrigerator Troubleshooting Guide

Kenmore Refrigerator Troubleshooting Guide

Kenmore is a brand of appliances sold by Sears. One of most popular Kenmore appliances available is the company's refrigerators, which come in both side-by-side and one-door models. The problems that can arise for both types of refrigerators are the same and are generally easy to fix.

Ice Machine Not Working or Dispensing

Many Kenmore refrigerator models have built-in ice makers. If the refrigerator is brand new, it can take up to three full days for it to begin producing ice properly. If the refrigerator isn't new and is not making ice, check the water source line for any kinks and ensure that the ice maker is turned on. If the ice bin is full of ice cubes but no ice will come out when the button is pushed, check that there is no ice clogging up the delivery chute and ensure that only ice from the fridge itself is stored there. Do not store ice you've purchased in the Kenmore refrigerator ice bin.

Ice Quality Is Poor

If the ice is of poor quality and is discolored and smells, the ice may have been sitting for too long and should be replaced. Otherwise, the water quality may be to blame and you may need to filter the water.

Refrigerator Does Not Turn on or Work

If your refrigerator will not turn on, there could be several causes of this and many are power-source related. First, ensure that the outlet the refrigerator is plugged into is working by plugging in something that lights up, such as a lamp or alarm clock. Next, check your fuse box and reset the circuit breaker, if necessary. If your refrigerator is brand new and not cooling, it can take up to a full day for the refrigerator to get cold enough to store food in.

Refrigerator Is Noisy

Refrigerators, especially ones with built-in ice machines like many Kenmore models, will periodically make noises, including rattling, buzzing, water dripping sounds, cracking and gurgling. These are completely normal. However, if the motor is unusually loud or runs longer than usual, it may be due to the motor essentially working overtime on an older or less efficient unit, or the refrigerator door that has been left open too long. Check that the vents behind and underneath the Kenmore refrigerator are clean; if not, vacuum away any dust or debris. This will provide better ventilation to the motor and prevent it from overheating and running too long.

Jobs For Teens In Restaurants

Restaurants often look at teenagers to join their staff.

Teenagers looking to find work in the restaurant business will find plenty of options available. Several entry-level positions are suitable for teenagers both at the front and back of the house (dining and kitchen areas). These positions are typically low-paying roles, but hold potential for higher paying work if performance quality is there.

Hosts

Restaurants that employ hosts will often hire younger teenagers to fill these positions. Some restaurants will employ teenagers as young as fourteen or fifteen years old. The duties of this position include greeting and thanking guests, seating guests, operating a seating chart, answering phones, taking reservations and sometimes take-out orders, and assisting waiters in times of high volume.

Waiters

Often waiters are employed only if they are 18 or older; however, depending on the establishment, teenagers as young as 16 might be permitted. Waiters work in a high-paced environment where multi-tasking places an important role. Some of the duties include taking orders, answering menu questions, delivering food items and drinks, itemizing checks, stocking service areas, replenishing items on tables and taking care of all the customer's needs.

Bussers

Bussers are responsible for clearing all dishes, glasses and silverware from the table after the guests have finished. In addition, they are required to set up the table for the next guests including laying out glasses, silverware and napkins. They may also be required to clean other areas of the dining room.

Prep Cooks

A prep cook is an entry-level position whose responsibility is to assist in the preparation of meals. This might include preparing salads or entrees, chopping fruits or vegetables, checking food temperatures and storing leftover food properly.

Cashiers

Sometimes restaurants employ a specific worker to work the cash register, especially in fast food. Cashier duties include ringing up bills and accepting payment (in many forms), giving tips to waiters, balancing the register at the end of the evening. Some fast food cashiers have to take orders and deliver food as well.

Dishwashers

Dishwashing staff are back-of-the-house workers who make sure the kitchen is stocked with clean dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans and cooking utensils. Additional duties may include housekeeping, such as mopping, sweeping, taking out the trash, etc.

Stop Water From Your Kitchen Faucet From Flooding The Countertop

Bad rubber rings on your kitchen faucet causes water to leak out of the base and flood the counter.

Fixing a leaking kitchen faucet requires different steps than fixing some other faucets, such as those in bathtubs or showers. Repairing a kitchen faucet does not require a homeowner to have advanced knowledge of plumbing or even to have special plumbing tools. You can find the replacement rubber rings as well as the plumber's grease necessary to repair your leaking kitchen faucet at your local plumbing supply store or a well-stocked home improvement center.

Instructions

1. Close the house's main water valve to stop the flow of water to the faucet. Turn on another faucet all the way to drain any leftover water pressure from the plumbing.

2. Remove the retaining screw from the faucet, located either at the base of the faucet's handle or underneath a cap at the base of the handle. Lift the handle off the faucet and remove any adapter pieces using a screwdriver and Allen wrench.

3. Pull out any metal clips or pins present using a pair of needle-nose pliers. Remove the faucet's cartridge or valve assembly by twisting it counterclockwise using a pair of pliers.

4. Lift up on the faucet's spout to remove it from the assembly. Insert the blade of a flat-head screwdriver under the two rubber rings to lift them off of the faucet assembly.

5. Spread plumber's grease on new rubber rings and slide them onto the faucet in the same spots as the old rings. Put the faucet back together by replacing the parts you removed in reverse order.

4. Spray Kaboom Shower, Tub and Tile Cleaner on your outdoor windows, and wipe with a cleaning pad to cut through the hard water stains that sprinklers and rainwater can leave behind.

Home Remedies For Cleaning Marble

Marble

Marble is used for many things including floors, counter tops, tables and sinks. Marble is not only aesthetically pleasing, with proper care, it is also a durable material that should last for generations. Cleaning your marble is simple. You don't need a special store-made product or to whip up some complex concoction from under your sink or in your pantry. Rather, you should have the materials needed right in your home without incurring any extra costs.

The Dos

Use soapy water. A bucket full of water with a couple squirts of dishwashing detergent is all you need. Then take a soft sponge, mop or rag, dip into the water and wring it out. Then, clean your marble. You can add a little bit hydrogen peroxide to your sponge or rag to get up spilled food stains like tomato sauce or oil stains. When you're done, use a soft cloth like a terrycloth towel, to buff it dry rather than air-drying.

Some people also use baking soda, which is safe to use on marble. Mix three tablespoons of baking soda for every quart of warm water. Dip your soft sponge or rag in and wring it out. Then, wipe down your marble to get it clean. Rinse with a clean wet rag. Buff your marble dry with a soft cloth.

The Don'ts

One of the most popular home remedies is using an acidic product, such as vinegar, lemon and bathroom or kitchen cleaners. While this may clean your marble, it will slowly eats at way at the marble finish and then begin to damage the marble. Don't do this. Also, never use an abrasive cleaner like Comet or Ajax. This is not only acidic, it will scratch your finish.

Lastly, be cautious over what you put on top of your marble countertops, especially in the bathrooms. Things like perfumes and lotions can cause damage over the long run. Use a tray to sit these things in. Also, be very cautious when dying your hair, which will leave a permanent stain.

Restore Glass Table Scratches

Restore Glass Table Scratches

A glass table can be an attractive decorative accent. Scratches in the glass, however, may detract from the overall appearance of the table, and are unappealing to look at. If your scratched table is part of a matching set, or works well with your current décor, you may not want to replace the table. The good news is that there is a relatively easy way to remove scratches from glass, allowing you to keep your table for years to come.

Instructions

1. Clean the table to remove any dust or dirt that could potentially cause further damage during the course of the repair.

2. Apply the jewelers rouge to the polishing pad, a small amount will work. If you cannot find jewelers rouge, non-gel, whitening toothpaste can serve as a substitute.

3. Put on your particle mask and goggles, apply the pad to the electric buffer, and run the buffer over the scratch using light to moderate pressure. If you do not have an electric buffer you can go over the scratch by hand with the polishing pad.

4. Leave your mask and goggles on, put on the plastic gloves and mix the 2 cups of warm water and ½ oz. of ammonia together in the spray bottle.

5. Spray the ammonia solution onto the buffed area, while still wearing your personal protective equipment, and carefully wipe it with a paper towel.

6. Examine the area. If the scratch is still visible, steps two through five can be repeated up to two more times. If the process is still not effective consult with a professional.

Winterize My American Coach Motorhome

When winter approaches, it's important to protect your American Coach motorhome from Mother Nature. From ant nests to snow to mildew, your American Coach is vulnerable to a wide variety of assaults that can significantly damage your vehicle. Properly winterizing your camper in the fall will prevent a multitude of costly problems in the spring.

Instructions

1. Remove all items from your motorhome. Leftover food, spices and even soap can attract insects, and bedding or mattresses can provide a nesting site for rodents. Clean the camper thoroughly, particularly around the food-preparation area.

2. Check the seals around windows and doors. Faulty sealing can allow moisture into your RV, causing mildew to form in the off-season. These openings can also invite bugs and other pests seeking shelter during the cold winter months. Replace any faulty gaskets around doors, and caulk around window panels.

3. Remove your propane tank, and cover the opening with a threaded cap, available at most hardware stores. Also cover any fuel lines on the inside of your camper with small sections of heavy-duty drop cloth, and seal with duct tape.

4. Place several self-contained chemical humidity absorbants inside your camper. The absorbants will remove any lingering moisture from the air in the camper, preventing your motorhome from becoming musty.

5. Place insect traps throughout the camper. If you will be checking the camper regularly throughout the winter, a few well-placed mouse traps can also be beneficial.

6. Treat your motorhome's plumbing system with a non-toxic antifreeze. Remove as much water as possible from the system and disconnect the water lines to ice makers, dishwashers and other appliances. Siphon the antifreeze into the camper's water pump, allowing the pump to distribute it throughout the system.

Secure Your Sink To A Granite Countertop

Install a sink below a granite countertop.

A granite counter is a common feature of modern kitchen designs. Sleek, hard and polishable on any edge, one of the benefits you derive from installing a granite countertop is the use of an undermount sink. Since the rim of the sink sits below the counter, rather than on top, you must install the sink so it holds firmly in place. With silicone adhesive, epoxy and sink clips, you can secure your sink in place.

Instructions

1. Clean the underside of the granite to ensure that it is free of dust or debris that could interfere with the bond of the sink and the adhesives. Allow the granite to dry completely before beginning.

2. Squeeze a line of silicone caulk directly from the tube onto the underside of the granite counter, surrounding the opening for the sink. Keep the line of caulk thin and without any breaks to ensure even coverage.

3. Line up the sink below the counter. Press it into place on the caulk. Hold it in place for a minute.

4. Place the two-by-four across the top of the granite, over the sink opening. Fasten one end of the C clamp through the sink's drain and the second end over the top of the two-by-four. This will hold the sink in place temporarily while the silicone hardens and you install the hardware.

5. Install the bolt stems of the sink mounting hardware by applying a dab of epoxy directly to the underside of the granite, next to the sink's rim, and pressing the bolt stem into place. Each sink will come with the required number of bolt stems for that size sink. Space the bolts evenly around the sink so that you have at least one bolt per side of the sink. For large sinks, install the bolts toward the corners of the sink for even hold. Wait 10 minutes for the epoxy to harden.

6. Install the rest of the sink's mounting hardware by applying a dab of epoxy onto the sink's rim, next to the bolt stems and pressing the mounting clips into the epoxy. Your sink should have as many mounting clips as bolt stems. Line them up properly next to the bolt stems so that they can attach to one another. Wait 10 minutes for the epoxy to harden. Attach the clips to the stems by tightening the bolts down with a wrench.

7. Allow the epoxy and silicone to harden overnight, then remove the two-by-four and C clamp from the sink and counter. Do not install the sink's drain or waste pipe until this time has passed, or the weight of the pipe could pull the sink away from the counter.

Troubleshoot A Kenmore Elite Oasis 2705 Washing Machine

Tighten the locknuts on the feet with a wrench to prevent rocking.

Rated "very good" by the 2008 Consumer Reports Annual Buying Guide, your Kenmore Elite Oasis 2705 washer gently washes loads, although it uses about 58 gallons of water--more than comparable top loaders, which use about 45 gallons per load. Your washer purchase provides a one-year warranty along with a 10-year limited warranty on the plastic tub and stainless steel drum. If problems arise, avoid paying for a service call by troubleshooting your Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine.

Instructions

Noisy Machine

1. Check to see if your Kenmore washer is level on the floor, if you can see and hear the washing machine rocking. The feet in the front and back must be firmly placed on the floor. Tighten the locknuts on the feet if necessary, using a wrench.

2. Distribute the clothing in the washer, spreading the clothing more evenly. Do not load the clothing over the top row of washer basket holes.

3. Place a piece of plywood underneath the feet of your washer, if you have an uneven floor. This will keep your washer from vibrating and cut down on the noise. Use a 3/4-inch piece of wood under the washer.

Water Leaks

4. Balance your laundry load, if you see water leaking. Too many items in the washer cause the water coming in to splash off, which produces leaks.

5. Check to see if you need to tighten the fill hoses, also called the inlet hoses. You will find the inlet hoses located behind the top portion of your washer. Tighten the couplings with pliers, but do not make them too tight, or you may damage the valves. Check both ends of each fill hose for a tight connection--the ends attached to your washer and the ends attached to the faucets.

6. Unclog the sink or drainpipe if necessary; otherwise, water will back out onto the floor. Fill the sink with about 2 inches of water, then place the plunger on the sink drain opening and pump it up and down repeatedly. Pull the plunger away with force to remove debris. Repeat if necessary. Run hot water down the drainpipe or place a snake into the drainpipe--a wire with a hook at the end, which will grab the debris from the drain. Pull the snake out to remove the debris. Never stand in water when using an electric snake; use a battery-operated snake.

Laundry Residue or Lint

7. Balance the items in your washer and avoid overloading your washer by making smaller loads. Too many items cause powdered detergent or lint to collect in the load.

8. Use the dispenser on your Kenmore Elite Oasis washer to dissolve detergent. Undissolved detergent will stick to your laundry items.

9. Remove all tissue, paper and other items from pockets before starting your washer.

Fix A Smelly Washing Machine

Prevent smelly laundry by cleaning your washing machine.

If you notice your laundry coming out of the washer with a foul odor, it is time to clean your washing machine. A smelly washing machine transmits odor onto your clothes. Detergent residue, excess moisture and dirt from your laundry all contribute to washing machine odor. Cleaning a washer requires little effort and will pay off big in terms of the condition of your laundry. Whether you have a top-loading or front-loading washing machine, cleaning the washer thoroughly will help to ensure that your laundry smells fresh.

Instructions

Cleaning Top-Loading Washers

1. Fill the washer to the highest water level with hot water. Pour three cups white vinegar and ½ cup baking soda into the washing machine as soon as it begins to agitate.

2. Let the washer run a nearly complete wash cycle. When the washer begins to drain the water, advance it to the "Spin" cycle. This will make the washer spin and drain simultaneously.

3. Wipe out the inside of the washing machine tub with a dry rag to remove any loosened grime after the washer has stopped running. Run a complete wash cycle with cold water to further remove the loosened residue.

4. Repeat this entire process if the odor remains. It may require more than one cleaning to completely remove washer odor.

Cleaning Front-Loading Washers

5. Make a paste of three parts baking soda and one part water into a bowl. Stir the ingredients until a thick paste forms.

6. Scoop the paste from the bowl with a rag. Wipe down the inside tub of the washer with the rag and baking soda paste.

7. Set the washer on the hottest water setting and the shortest wash cycle. Add ¾ cup chlorine bleach to the bleach dispenser tray.

8. Start the washer and let it run for about 20 seconds so that the bleach and water mix up in the tub. Stop the washer and let the bleach and water sit in the tub for 15 minutes.

9. Add the usual amount of laundry detergent to the dispenser tray. Restart the washing machine and allow it to run through the remainder of the wash cycle.

10. Combine ¾ cup chlorine bleach, one gallon of warm water and one tbsp. powdered laundry detergent into a bucket. Dip a rag into the cleaning solution and wring it out well.

11. Wipe down the rubber seal on the door of the front-loading washer. Pull the seal back just a bit to wipe behind it as well. Detergent, water and dirt buildup behind the seal can lead to odor.

12. Dry the rubber seal with a rag. Leave the door to the washer open to let the air circulate through the washer. Repeat this entire process, if necessary, until the odor is gone.

What Is The Difference Between A Builtin Refrigerator & A Freestanding

Appliances are usually expensive, so choosing between a built-in or a free-standing refrigerator is an important decision. By learning about both refrigerators, you may be able to make your choice based on what each has to offer.

Built-in Refrigerator

A built-in refrigerator is a specialty refrigerator that is built flush with the cabinetry in your kitchen. This type of refrigerator is built to the same depth as adjacent kitchen counters and other fixtures.

Free-standing Refrigerator

A free-standing refrigerator is not built in to your cabinetry and doesn't require custom installation. A free-standing refrigerator is free of support or attachment and therefore, is self contained.

Built-in Pros

Some kitchen manufacturers and suppliers give you the option to install custom front panels to match your cabinetry so that the refrigerator blends in with your cabinetry.

Built-in Cons

The cost of a built-in refrigerator and the cost of installation are higher than that of a free-standing refrigerator, as it must be integrated into your kitchen cabinetry design. The inside of a built-in refrigerator is shallow and, therefore, less spacious, and because they're wide, built-in refrigerators are not space-efficient.

Free-standing Pros

Free-standing refrigerators are generally less expensive than built-ins because they usually do not have to be customized to fit into your kitchen. This type of refrigerator is simpler to install and easier to remove and replace.

Free-standing Cons

A free-standing refrigerator may not be as visually appealing as a built-in refrigerator, as it is not designed to be integrated with your cabinets or decor. If you purchase the wrong size, you might end up with a refrigerator that is either too small or too big for your kitchen.
