Wolf Gas Cooktop Cleaning

Wolf Gas Cooktop Cleaning

Wolf gas cooktops in 15-, 30- and 36-inch sizes have a similar overall design that features porcelain and stainless steel parts, sealed burners, a control panel and knobs. Wolf has designed the cooktop and parts for quick disassembly and cleaning. As a result, you can clean any size Wolf gas cooktop using similar methods without any specialized cleaning tools or methods except to remove oils and grease and/or polish stainless steel areas.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Turn off your Wolf gas cooktop burners and wait for the cooktop to cool completely before cleaning.

2. Fill a sink with hot water and enough mild detergent to make the water soapy. Place a lint-free microfiber cloth and a non-abrasive scrubbing pad in the water.

3. Lift the burner grates and caps carefully from the burner pan and set the pieces aside on a countertop. Slide the edge of a dry microfiber cloth under the first control knob, lift the sides of the cloth up to dislodge the knob from the cooktop and set it aside. Repeat with the other knobs.

Cleaning

4. Wipe the burner pan clean with your soapy microfiber cloth. If you're dealing with hard-to-remove stains, apply soapy water to the stains, wait 10 minutes for the stain to break down and then wipe it away. If necessary, scrub the stain away gently with a non-abrasive scrubbing pad. Rinse the pan with a damp cloth and wipe it dry.

5. Spray a degreasing agent onto a dry microfiber cloth and wipe the control panel to remove oil splatter, grease, smudges and fingerprints.

6. Place the first burner grate into the sink of soapy water and wash it with a cloth. Scrub away stains from the grates gently with the non-abrasive scrubbing pad.

7. Place the grate under running tap water to rinse away residues. Wipe the grate dry as much as possible and then set it aside to air-dry. Repeat the cleaning process with the other grates.

8. Clean each burner cap and knob with a fresh soapy cloth. Rinse the caps under running water and wipe dry. Rinse the knobs with a damp cloth and wipe dry.

9. Apply a stainless steel polish to a cloth and rub the cooktop trim and exterior -- in the direction of the grain -- to polish the surfaces. Buff with a dry cloth.

10. Return the parts to your cooktop after the parts have completely dried. Turn each knob on confirm that the burners still work. Turn off the burners.

Wiring A Builtin Dishwasher

Built-in dishwashers use dedicated electrical circuits for power.

Newer homes with built-in dishwashers wire the dishwashers into a dedicated 20-amp 120-volt electrical circuit. Dishwashers in older homes may share their electrical circuit with a garbage disposal. A 20-amp circuit uses wire at least 12-gauge thick. The dishwasher's wire set contains two insulated wires and an uninsulated ground wire. The wires typically enter the dishwasher's cabinet area on the same side as the garbage disposal. If the dishwasher sits in an island, then the wire will penetrate the floor near the back of the cabinet.

Instructions

1. Turn the dishwasher's circuit breaker off. The correct circuit breaker often has a "Dishwasher" or "Kitchen Special" label.

2. Remove the dishwasher's access panel with either a flat-head screwdriver or a 1/4-inch nut driver. The access panel, found under the door hinges next to the floor, typically attaches to the dishwasher with three screws.

3. Open the electrical connection box with either a flat-head screwdriver or a 1/4-inch nut driver. The electrical connection box usually connects to the dishwasher's housing near one of its front legs. Two holes penetrate the box. The dishwasher's wires enter the box through one hole and the power supply wires will enter the empty second hole.

4. Strip one-half inch of insulation from each 12-gauge power supply wire with wire strippers.

5. Push four inches of the power-supply wires into the electrical box's second hole. Some boxes use wire clamps to hold the supply wires in place. If so, then loosen the clamp with a flat-head screwdriver before pushing the wires into the box. Tighten the wire clamp after pushing the supply wires into the box.

6. Wrap the power supply's uninsulated wire around the green screw found on the box's housing. Tighten the green ground screw with a flat-head screwdriver. Push the excess uninsulated copper wire to the back of the box.

7. Remove the wire nuts from the dishwasher's wires, if equipped.

8. Twist the power supply's black wire and the dishwasher's black wire together. Screw a wire nut onto this pair of wires.

9. Twist the power supply's white wire and the dishwasher's white wire together. Screw a wire nut onto this pair of wires.

10. Hold the box's cover in place and replace its screws.

11. Screw the dishwasher's access cover in place, then turn its circuit breaker on.

My Frigidaire Dishwasher'S Selfcleaning Filter Is Not Draining

Frigidaire dishwashers are available with various options, including quiet motors, space-efficient organization systems, large silverware baskets, energy saving cycles, stainless steel interiors and food filters. While a food filter is designed to drain automatically, if this does not occur, users might want to try some troubleshooting.

Dish Preparation

It is important to note that while the filter is designed to remove food particles from the system and discard them, the dishwasher cannot process overly large items through the filter. You should scrape or rinse dishes to remove large or hard debris prior to washing, as food debris can build up in the filter and create an obstruction.

Obstruction

To begin determining what is wrong with the filter, turn off the dishwasher, unplug it, pull out the bottom rack and take a look at the filter. It is located in the bottom center of the tub. Examine it for debris, utensils or other objects that may be blocking the filter and causing the drainage problem. Clean away anything that may be blocking the surface of the filter.

Cylinder Filter

One method to restore function to the filter is to clean the cylinder filter, which is designed to catch larger items but can get blocked. Remove and pull out the bottom rack, then turn the cylinder filter -- which is a plastic dial located in front of the bottom spray arm -- in a counterclockwise motion. Lift it out and rinse it thoroughly with water.

Fine Filter

Once you have removed the cylinder filter, you can remove and clean the fine filter. Remove the bottom spray arm by turning it counterclockwise and pulling up on it gently. Lift out the fine filter, which is the larger, palate-shaped filter. Rinse it thoroughly under running water, then put it back in place. Once the fine filter is in place, return the bottom spray arm and the cylinder filter to position.

Repair

If the above methods do not resolve the issue, allowing the filter to drain properly, turn off the dishwasher and contact an appliance professional for assistance. The filter may be damaged or broken, which will require repair.

What Causes Dishwashers To Leak

Leaky dishwashers can flood your kitchen quickly.

Dishwashers make your life easier when they work properly but give you headaches when they don't. If your dishwasher has developed a leak, a few things may be to blame. Checking your gasket, the unit's balance, the hoses and fittings that handle water and which detergent you use may isolate the problem. If you still cannot identify the issue after checking these things, call in a warranty repair if your unit is still covered. If not, call a good plumber.

Gasket Problems

Dishwashers that don't leak have clean gaskets that seal properly. If your dishwasher is leaking, a gasket that is dirty or disintegrating from old age is the most likely problem. Examine the gasket around the door of your dishwasher for obvious problems, such as cracks or loosening from its proper place. If it is cracked or damaged in any way, contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If you have a newer dishwasher, check your warranty to see if your machine is still covered before contacting the manufacturer. Cleaning your gasket with a gentle, nonabrasive cleanser may help, if you cannot identify any damage or other signs that your gasket is compromised.

Unbalanced Unit

A dishwasher is made to perform certain functions, but its ability to do so is jeopardized if it is out of balance. Your floor may not be exactly level if you use a leveling sight glass to check it, but that does not mean your dishwasher is doomed. Modern dishwashers have individually adjustable front feet, so that you can dial in the correct balance for your installation. Check it with a level placed on the door to make sure your dishwasher and gravity are in alignment. That way, water will only go where it is designed to move, within the unit -- instead of outside, all over your floor.

Lines and Fittings

Your dishwasher is connected to electricity, your hot water supply and your drain. Electricity is connected through wires and conduit, but your water supply and drainage are connected through hoses and pipe fittings that attach to the dishwasher. If your hoses or pipe fittings should leak or fail entirely, you may see water start to come from underneath the dishwasher. It may have hoses that connect in front, behind a panel underneath the door. However, depending on how your supply and drainage hoses are routed through the cabinetry to get to the water supply and drain, you may have a lot of hoses and multiple fittings to diagnose. If you are involved in the installation of a dishwasher, use plumber's tape on the threads when connecting hoses to fittings to prevent leaks.

Improper Detergent Use

Automatic dishwasher detergent is specifically formulated for use with dishwashers. The bottle of dish soap you keep next to your sink is good for washing dishes by hand but is not meant for dishwasher use. It creates more suds than automatic dishwasher detergents, resulting in leaks and a foamy mess all over your kitchen floor. Always check that the package on any detergent you buy says that it is formulated for automatic dishwasher use.

Get Rid Of The Flies & Roaches In "The Sims"

In "The Sims," players take control of a virtual character called a Sim, build him a house and play through the span of his life. Just like in real life, you have to keep your Sim's house clean or else it will attract bugs such as flies and roaches. Bugs are a nuisance in "The Sims" and cause the comfort rating of the room to drop drastically. However, much like in real life, the best way to get rid of the bugs is to clean up your act.

Instructions

1. Click on dirty dishes to have your Sim wash them in the sink or dishwasher. You must have an open sink or dishwasher to clean the dishes. Dishes left out for eight hours will attract flies, but cleaning the dishes will make the flies disappear.

2. Click on rotting garbage and old pizza boxes that have attracted flies to throw them away. Disposing of old garbage will immediately get rid of the flies swarming around it.

3. Click on cockroaches to have your Sim spray them with bug poison. You cannot queue this action; it must be the only action you have for your Sim to take. If there are other cockroaches on your home lot, the Sim will seek them all out with the bug spray until you select another command.

4. Clean your house daily to avoid attracting cockroaches. Dirty dishes, clogged toilets, puddles on the floor and even unmade beds can make roaches appear.

5. Hire a maid to keep your house clean. The maid will clean up any dishes or trash that have attracted flies and occasionally spray cockroaches. You must have enough money to pay for maid services every day.

Troubleshoot A Ge Profile Refrigerator Ice Maker

Always make sure food is in some sort of sealed container so ice isn't permeated by food odors.

Common problems with GE Profile refrigerator ice makers can include bad-tasting ice; ice not getting created; and watery, insipid or hollow ice. The ice-maker is supplied with water from a water line plumbed into the kitchen water system. The process of creating ice is enabled by the ice maker machine freezing the water in cubes and then storing the cubes in a bin. A dispenser then distributes the ice. Trouble can occur along this route.

Instructions

1. Verify that the feeder arm in the ice maker is in the on position. It should be marked.

2. Look for the water line. It should be a brass or clear tube, and is distinct from the power supply, which is thinner. The tube should connect to a water supply on the wall. The connection may look a bit like the valves for your laundry area---there may be a recessed panel with an on/off tap. Make sure the water line is connected and that the tap or valve is in line with the tube. This will supply water to the ice maker.

3. Allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to make ice. GE side-by-side in-freezer icemakers should make about 130 cubes a day, or 4.5 pounds.

4. Throw out the existing ice if it tastes foul, musty or stale. The ice can get contaminated by odors and tastes from incorrectly stored food in the refrigerator and freezer. Baking soda placed in the fridge and freezer cabinets can help.

5. Keep freezer door openings to a minimum if the ice is watery. An alternative would be to lower the freezer temperature. Small or hollow pieces of ice can be caused by poor water pressure. Check for kinks in the water line. Change the water filter if there is one.

History Of Oneida Silverware

The Oneida Company specializes in the manufacture of tabletop products. Currently known as Oneida Ltd., it is one the largest marketers of stainless steel flatware in the United States. Oneida has plants and operates in the U.S., Mexico, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. Oneida has been in operation for more than 100 years and continues to thrive, having the top five designs of the tabletop industry.

Community Founder

Oneida was founded by John Humphrey Noyes in upstate New York in 1848. Oneida was originally a community built on the principles of the ideas perfectionism. The perfectionism religion was based on two principles--communalism and self- perfection. The Oneida community shared work and property with all of its members. Men were married to more than one woman and children were raised by the entire community until the age of 12. The men and women of the community made their money in the manufacturing business producing silverware, animal traps and silk items. The Oneida community successfully lasted for at least 30 years.

Reorganization

The Oneida community lasted from 1848 to the late 1870s. In 1879, the community was divided into two different factions. The community joined all their businesses into one joint stock company called Oneida Community Limited, which was operated and owned by the senior members of the community. The stock was valued at $600,000 and was distributed to the men and women of the community. Due to a lack of leadership and emigration from the community, this led to the failure of the community and the company.

Making a Comeback

In 1894, John Noyes' son, Pierrepont Burt Noyes (P.B. Noyes) sought to re-establish his father's community and business. P.B. Noyes worked as a wholesaler for Oneida outside of the community. Since P.B. Noyes worked on the outside of the community, he was able to properly identify the mistakes of the business. With the leadership of P.B. Noyes, the older directors were voted out by just 16 shares. P.B. Noyes was promoted to superintendent at the Niagra Falls plant and led the company to its highest profits in 1899. At 30-years-old, P.B. Noyes had been promoted again to general manager overseeing all the company's divisions. P.B. Noyes introduced Oneida to the Industrial Revolution. In 1904, P.B. Noyes increased the promotion budget from $5,000 to $30,000 per year by using the profits from the trap manufacturing business.

Contributions

Oneida helped the United States defense efforts during World War I by producing gas shells, combat knives and ammunition clips. Oneida also helped the World War II efforts by producing surgical devices, shells, hand grenades, chemical bombs, air fuel tanks, silverware and parachute releases. During the 1960s, Oneida produced stainless steel flatware that revolutionized the use of stainless steel utensils. Also, the Newhouse trap for animals was a well known instrument used globally.

Modern Times

In 1983, Oneida sold more than half of the flatware that was sold in the United States. Oneida further expanded the company by purchasing Buffalo China Inc. the nation's largest manufacturer of commercial chinaware. By the middle part of the 1980s, Oneida began to produce crystal stemware and giftware. The company formed a joint venture with an Italian company called Sant'Andrea S.r.l. to market Italian tabletop products. During the 1990s, Oneida revamped the company focusing on just tabletop products, selling subsidiaries that manufactured other types of products.

Why The Top Rack Of A Dishwasher Is Not Drying

Troubleshoot your dishwasher to determine why the dishes do not dry.

Efficient dishwashers will finish their cleaning cycle leaving the dishes clean and dry. If your dishwasher is not working optimally, it might not be drying your dishes, requiring you to dry the dishes by hand before you put them away. There are several reasons why your dishwasher might not be drying the dishes and cups on the top rack. Fix these issues to help ensure optimal efficiency.

Instructions

1. Check your water heater's temperature to make sure that it is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The hotter the water, the easier it will be for the glasses to dry. Run the dishwasher to determine if this was the problem. If it was not, continue to the next step.

2. Fill the rinse aid tank with rinse aid solution. The rinse aid will help the water sheet off of the dishes in the top rack of the dishwasher to help them dry faster. Run the dishwasher to determine if this was the problem. If it was not, continue to the next step.

3. Arrange the dishes and cups in the top rack so that they are spaced further apart. If your dishes are still not drying it may be because they are too close together. Make sure that the cups will not tip over in the dishwasher. If they do they will fill with water and will make it harder to keep the other items in the dishwasher dry.

Tools Needed To Unclog The Drain In A Kenmore Dishwasher

Overheated tempered glass cookware can shatter and clog the dishwasher's drain.

Perhaps the most common and preventable dishwasher clogs are those caused by food debris. Large pieces of food can wash off your dishes and stick to the basket of your Kenmore dishwasher, which filters to the drain, leaving standing water. To avoid clogs from food debris, scrape food off dishes before loading the dishwasher. Kenmore dishwashers are built like most standard dishwashers, including a basket filter and a drain out to your sink/garbage disposal, both of which can become clogged from food debris, broken glass or fragments of dishes, hard-water buildup and more.

Instructions

1. Put on rubber gloves. Open the dishwasher and sift through the standing water to remove any food, glass, utensils or dishes that may be clogging the drain.

2. Unscrew the basket covering the drain and remove further debris that may have gone through the filter but built up and clogged the drain. This is most common when there is a large amount of tiny debris.

3. Pour powdered dishwasher detergent in a bowl with a small amount of water to create a paste. Dip a sponge in the paste and wipe down the interior of the dishwasher to remove hard-water buildup. Hard-water buildup can clog the drain.

4. Run a normal cycle with detergent after wiping down the interior with the detergent paste used in Step 3.

5. Pour liquid drain clog remover down your garbage disposal if the dishwasher is still not draining properly. This usually clears out the drain line that connects the sink/garbage disposal to the dishwasher.

Clean Pool Filters With Acid

Muriatic acidity is generally accustomed to clean pool filters.

With time, cartridge filters develop debris that won't be removed by filter cleansers alone. Rather than changing the filter each time it will get dirty, soak it in acidity after cleaning with dishwasher detergent. Muriatic acidity, also called muriatic acidity, is generally accustomed to kill algae and dissolve nutrients on pool filters. The very first cleaning removes any tanning creams or oils that may ruin the filter upon connection with acidity. A absorb soda ash neutralizes any acidity remaining around the pool filter.

Instructions

Cleaning with Muriatic Acidity

1. Switch off the energy towards the pool filter. Take away the filter from the housing based on the user guide.

2. Spray the pool filter completely having a hose to get rid of any debris from between your pleats.

3. Fill a sizable bucket with 1 cup of dishwasher detergent and 5 gallons water. Submerge the swimming pool filter and let it soak for one hour.

4. Take away the pool filter in the bucket and rinse it completely having a hose.

5. Fill the bucket with 5 gallons water. Add 4 glasses of muriatic acidity towards the water. Submerge the swimming pool filter and let it soak for four hrs.

6. Take away the pool filter and empty the bucket. Fill the bucket with 1/2 lb. soda ash and 5 gallons water. Submerge the filter within the bucket to reduce the effects of any acidity.

7. Take away the pool filter and rinse it completely having a hose. Put the filter in its housing before turning the energy on.

Get rid of the Acidity

8. Fill a sizable bucket with 1 lb. sodium bicarbonate. Add 1 gallon water towards the mixture, and stir it having a spoon until it's partly dissolved.

9. Pour the leftover acidity gradually and thoroughly in to the sodium bicarbonate mixture. Stir it lightly having a spoon. The mix will fizz because the sodium bicarbonate starts to reduce the effects of the acidity.

10. Empty the mix to waste if this stops fizzing.

Freshen A Dishwasher

Deodorizing a dishwasher makes it pleasant to use the appliance again.

Foul odors develop inside the dishwasher over time due to food residue that hides in the cracks and crevices inside the appliance. Failure to run the dishwasher when it contains a load of dirty dishes can also cause odors to form. Dishwasher detergents do not always break down the food and bacteria in the appliance. When your dishwasher smells, you can freshen it with items in your home. Dishwashers need to be cleaned monthly to keep them odor-free and in good condition.

Instructions

1. Wipe away any food debris and gunk inside the dishwasher with paper towels.

2. Disinfect the inside of the dishwasher with 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach, 2 tablespoons liquid dish detergent and 1 quart of water. Soak a sponge in the solution and wipe down all areas of the dishwasher such as the walls, shelves, gaskets and door.

3. Pour 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach into the bottom of the dishwasher. Run the empty dishwasher through a complete cycle to destroy any odor-causing bacteria.

4. Pour baking soda into a shallow bowl. Place the baking soda on a shelf inside the appliance. Allow the baking soda to absorb the odors overnight.

5. Create a baking soda paste to remove any lingering odors by combining 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Apply the paste inside the dishwasher with a washcloth, and then rinse it off with clean water.

Transport Granite Countertops

Granite is the most expensive option available for kitchen or bathroom countertops, with prices beginning at $60 a square foot. This natural stone is the hardest material used for countertops and is very durable once installed. The granite's sturdiness is a primary reason, along with its aesthetically pleasing appearance, why granite is so popular. However, while in transit, granite countertops must be properly supported or they could crack. It is possible to transport granite yourself with the right materials.

Instructions

1. Use an A-frame wooden structure or A-frame dolly to support the stone countertop while transporting. The A-frame is used to properly support the stone and can be made yourself with wooden two-by-fours at a 10-degree angle, or you can rent one from a granite store. Horizontal boards connect the two A-frame structures where the clamps and straps will be attached.

2. Lean the granite against the slope part of the A-frame. The countertop should be vertical with the unpolished side edged against the support beam. The bottom edge should be placed evenly on the ground.

3. Tie the straps around the granite to secure it in place to the horizontal support beam with the clamps.

4. Transporting small bathroom countertops can be done without an A-frame. Follow the same basic rules by securing the stone while it is straight up on the unpolished side, with the bottom edge placed evenly on the floor. For example, the back seat of minivan could be left up and the granite could be propped up against it and secured in place.

5. Carrying the granite out of the vehicle will require two people. The granite should be vertical and supported at both ends while you carry it.

Why Will not My Kenmore Dishwasher Warm Up

Kenmore is a make of consumer appliances sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co. Kenmore specializes in house, washing and kitchen appliances, including constitutional and portable dishwashers. Broadly, these dishwashers ferment without any issues, but you may feel fry problems, including your dishwasher not warming up. Trouble-shoot and mending these problems to debar help fees and fixing hold multiplication.

Heating Element

The warming component in your Kenmore dishwasher is responsible heat up both the weewee and the air during the drying cps. If this factor is not functional, the h2o volition be too inhuman, and the drying cps won't scratch. Unplug your Kenmore dishwasher from the might vent and probe the component. Examination the factor with an ohmmeter. If you do not see a version, the ingredient is not functional decently. Scrutinize the factor for break or corroding. Decree a new portion from an authorised Kenmore parts trader.

Fan/Water Temperature

The drying fan is responsible circulating air roughly the dishes. The fan is situated generally caparison. Transfer the dishwasher from the might reference and balk the fan. Pick it if it's soil. If any portion of the fan is busted or if the motive isn't workings, decree a new one from a Kenmore parts bargainer. Shape if the pee temperature is hot adequate. Run the h2o by run the kitchen spigot for most two proceedings or until the piss is at its hottest temperature. Joint a raincoat thermometer nether the irrigate. If it's infra Cxx degrees Fahrenheit, addition the piss temperature on your hot piddle bullet.

Thermostat

The thermoregulator regulates the pee and drying temperatures in your Kenmore dishwasher. Test the thermostat by running your dishwasher on a short cycle at the highest temperature possible. Let the cycle run for a few minutes then open the door to see if the water is hot. If it's not, you need to order a new thermostat.

Additional Concerns

Always use a heated drying setting and not an air-dry setting. Your dishwasher may not completely dry dishes made of plastic or Teflon. Do not overload your dishwasher as this prevents air from circulating around the dishes. Use a rinse aid to assist the drying process. If you have tested all of the components and they are working properly, you may have an issue with the control board. Disconnect your dishwasher its power source and examine the control board. If any component appears burnt out or broken, order a new one since this part is difficult to fix.

Why Does My Ge Dishwasher Fill And Drain At The Same Time

A defective pump assembly can cause the dishwasher to fill and drain simultaneously.

A dishwasher is a complex appliance that goes through many processes as it cleans dirty dishes and glassware. However, it should never fill and drain at the same time. This situation indicates an internal problem with the dishwasher, which can range from an issue with the drain hose or drain valve, to a faulty pump motor or a defective timer.

Drain Hose

A problem with the drain hose will allow the dishwasher to fill and drain at the same time. If the hose is too low, the water being siphoned out of the appliance will simultaneously flow back into the dishwasher. The prevent this, the drain hose should be at least 12 inches higher than the floor. Also, General Electric recommends the drain hose be pushed no further than two inches down the drain. In addition, the house drain should have a minimum height of 30 inches.

Drain Valve Obstruction

The dishwasher may fill and drain at the same time due to a drain valve obstruction. Any debris or other particles that lodge in the drain valve will prevent the water from flowing out before a new cycle starts filling the dishwasher with more water. If the drain valve's electric solenoid is jammed, this can also hinder the water from draining out.

Pump Assembly

A malfunctioning pump assembly can also result in the dishwasher filling and draining at the same time. The pump assembly contains three parts: a pump, which funnels water out of the machine; a washer impeller; which forces water through the spray arm; and a wash impeller, which steers water to the drain. Any debris trapped in the pump assembly, or any worn-out or malfunctioning parts of the assembly, can stop the water from draining before the dishwasher starts filling again.

Timer

The dishwasher may be filling and draining at the same time due to a defective timer. All dishwashers have either a mechanical or an electronic timer, which controls the appliance by starting and stopping the machine's functions at the scheduled time. However, if the timer assembly or timer motor is defective, it will hinder the dishwasher's ability to drain water before the machine refills.

Bosch Jet Dry Dispenser Is Clogged

Dishes water-washed without gargle aid power bear streaks or detersive rest floater.

Bosch, an gadget fabrication based in Germany, has a entire occupation of dishwashers that birth gargle aid dispensers. Jet Dry, a saucer laundry liquidity and accessories maker, makes a total demarcation of wash aids for use with Bosch dispensers. Jet Dry is poured into a dispensing whole on the Bosch dishwasher's internal doorway, and the smooth is mechanically added to the bag wash bike for a clearer dishes. If the dispenser clogs, the rinsing aid isn't added to the gargle bike, resulting in murky, streaky or patched dishes.

Rinse Aid

Jet Dry rinsing aid is intentional to foreclose floater, streaks and picture on water-washed dishes by fillet the wet droplets from drying on the dishes. The water-repelling sheeting activity -- wash piddle slides off surfaces more easy -- helps both the dishes and the within of the Bosch dishwasher dry quicker and more exhaustively than heaps water-washed without an factor. Victimization a rinse agent when you run the dishwasher helps forestall max balance from finishing the privileged of your whole.

Contingent your manakin, you might have to transfer the screws from the intimate threshold to irritate the dispenser. About Bosch systems are certain. Don't use chemic cleaners because the residual can finish on your dishes. Scavenge off all max trash and rest you can see. If the residual is projecting, try adding a niggling quetch whiten acetum to the hot urine then cleansing the dispenser. If you're interested roughly hatchway the threshold, you can try to pip-squeak hot pee and acetum into the dispenser victimization a bomb tacker. If you see goo you can't gravel, satisfy the dispenser with acetum alternatively of Jet Dry and run one hot washing bike without detersive and with the dishwasher empty-bellied.

Prevention/Warranty

Why Does My Dishwasher Smell

Food particles are to blame for most dishwasher odors.

After hosting a dinner party and saying goodbye to your guests, you will find yourself facing a mountain of dirty dishes. Your dishwasher could be the key to getting to bed before midnight but not if a foul smell rolls out of it when you open it up. You can fix the most common causes of dishwasher odor and prevent the smells from returning.

Smells

Normally, all you should smell inside your dishwasher is the lingering scent of your dishwashing detergent when you unload clean dishes from your machine. On occasion you might smell something else when you open up the door. Smells that signal a problem inside your dishwasher include the foul scent of bacteria and rotting food and the pungent odor of sewer gas. You will not notice these odors when your dishwasher door is closed or when it is running. Instead the smells will invade your kitchen when you open the dishwasher door to place a dirty glass inside it.

Causes

The cause of the odor of bacteria is food particles building up in the bottom of the dishwasher, which occurs when the unit fails to wash away food waste from dishes. The food waste attracts bacteria, which feeds on the food waste and causes it to spoil. The problem becomes worse when the dishwasher does not heat water to a sufficiently high temperature to kill off bacteria during wash cycles, so the bacteria levels rise. The odor of a sewer is caused when sewer gas drifts up through the kitchen drainpipe and into your dishwasher.

Solutions

To get rid of the smell of bacteria, you must remove the food particles on which the bacteria are feeding. Empty the dishwasher of all dishes, and gather together a large wad of paper towels. There could be broken glass from damaged dishes and glasses in the bottom of your dishwasher, so work carefully. Wipe away all built-up food and grease from the bottom of the dishwasher, and dispose of the paper towels. Sewer gas enters your home when there is a problem with the trap in the drainpipe that should be sealing the gas down in the sewer, which is a potentially serious health risk; contact a plumbing professional for help.

Considerations

You can prevent bad odors from returning to your dishwasher by maintaining it. Once a month, pour a cup of white vinegar into the dishwasher's detergent dispenser and run the unit while empty. You can also use a half cup of bleach, which will clear food particles and kill bacteria before they have a chance to build up and become a problem. If you do not run your dishwasher often, sprinkle baking powder in the bottom of it between loads, which will help control odor and keep the unit smelling fresh.

Why Do Smoke Detectors Go Off

Why Do Smoke Detectors Go Off?

Smoke detectors sound alarms not only to alert you to smoke or fire, but also to signal the need for maintenance or to indicate a malfunction.

Failing Battery

When the smoke alarm battery is low, built-in circuitry sounds an alarm. Resetting the alarm will not stop the beeping. Keep spare batteries on hand and replace them rather than removing them to stop the noise.

Failing Detector

Many smoke detectors sound an alarm if critical parts of the circuit malfunction. In this case the battery would check out fine, there would be no fire in the building, but resetting the detector would not stop the alarm. Consult the manufacturer's instructions to interpret the signal given by the detector. The pattern of beeps for a circuit malfunction differs from the signal for fire or low battery. Many smoke detector makers replace defective units free of charge within the limits of the warranty.

Combustion Gases

Smoke detectors come in two basic types--particle detectors and ionization detectors.

Ionization detectors use a small chamber irradiated by a small amount of americium to detect combustion byproducts in the air. The americium radiation ionizes air molecules in the chamber, creating a small electric current. Combustion gases include invisible particles that disrupt the electrical connection and trigger the alarm.

Ionization detectors respond to fires that produce very little soot and smoke. According to the National Bureau of Standards, ionization detectors respond faster to flaming fires, while particle detectors react more quickly to smoldering fires.

Smoke

Particle detectors sound an alarm when a photoelectric receptor detects light bouncing off nearby particles of smoke. Photoelectric detectors trigger fewer false alarms from steam or cooking fumes than do ionization detectors.

Both types of detectors should be included in a home fire alarm network. If alarms sound frequently in response to steam or heat--for example, in the kitchen--place the detector elsewhere in the home. If the detector can't be moved, open a window when cooking or showering. Clean the smoke alarm cover and remove any dead bugs or other debris. Always replace the alarm cover after changing the battery.

Maintenance

Test all smoke detectors manually every month. For a better appraisal of its effectiveness blow some smoke directly into the device. Clean the smoke alarm cover and remove any dead bugs or other debris. Replace smoke alarm batteries annually whether the low battery alarm sounds or not. Always replace the alarm cover after changing the battery.

Most detectors have an expected lifetime of less than 10 years--do not buy secondhand devices, which may be near the end of that cycle. The National Fire Protection Association reports that the death rate from house fires in homes without smoke alarms is twice as high as for those with working smoke detectors.

Why Do My Dishes Smell After They Are Washed In The Dishwasher

Add lemon juice or baking soda to the detergent dispenser.

Emptying the dishwasher and finding dishes with a foul odor isn't unusual. Odor generally results from a dirty dishwasher. If you discover that your dishwasher is transferring a fishy or musty odor onto dishes, clean it out. After a good cleaning, the odor should disappear and dishes should leave the dishwasher smelling fresh and clean.

How Bad Smell Occurs

Although rinsing dishes before placing them in the dishwasher isn't usually necessary, scraping food remnants from plates and bowls keeps large particles from ending up in the filter or crevices of the machine. Over time, leftover food accumulates in these areas and begins to smell. The dishwasher can transmit the odor to dishes during the drying cycle. Unless the machine is cleaned out periodically, the smell will persist.

Clean the Filter

Not all dishwashers have filters that automatically clean themselves once a collection of food debris develops. Certain dishwashers, especially older ones, require that you remove the filter and manually clean it with soap and water. Consult your dishwasher manual for filter cleaning instructions.

Clean the Dishwasher

Thoroughly scrub the dishwasher with a small brush that has been immersed in a cleaning solution of dish soap and hot water. Go over the entire cavity to get into gaps and crevices as well as the rubber door seal. For baked-on food, use an abrasive cleaner like baking soda mixed with hot water to form a paste. Once you're finished scrubbing, wipe down the inside of the dishwasher with a clean, damp cloth to remove soap and dirt. Repeat this step as needed until the machine is fully clean.

Prevention

Food debris has a better chance of becoming trapped in gaps of the machine when too little water is used during the wash cycle. Avoid using the kitchen faucet when the machine is filling with water so as not to divert water resources from the washing machine as it fills. Run the rinse cycle a second time or set the machine to "sani-rinse," which is an extra rinse cycle used to increase the amount of water the dishwasher uses. The more water you use, the better chance that food particles will get flushed down the drain and won't linger in the machine, producing an unpleasant odor.

Understanding the potential problems that can cause your Amana dishwasher to not run as well as it should, or not at all, makes it easier to get to the heart of the problem and have it resolved as quickly as possible.

Instructions

1. Verify that the electrical outlet is working properly by unplugging the dishwasher and plugging in a lamp or other appliance. It is possible that the dishwasher may have tripped a breaker or blown a fuse, which will either require a reset or replacement.

2. Open the dishwasher door then close it securely. Amana dishwashers use a safety sensor that prevents them from operating when the door is ajar. You must trip the sensor by closing the door before the dishwasher can start.

3. Open the dishwasher door and move the overfill protection float up and down if the dishwasher will not fill with water. Close the door then select a cleaning cycle.

4. Reduce the amount of detergent if you see a white residue forming on the front access panel. Using too much detergent can cause excessive foaming and leave unsightly residue behind.

5. Add a rinse aid to the dishwasher if the dishes and silverware are still wet after the cleaning cycle. Amana SofSound II dishwashers are designed for use with a rinse aid. Overloading the dishwasher can also result in excessive moisture and prolonged drying times.

6. Open the dishwasher door and check the load if the appliance is not operating or if you hear a clanging noise when the wash cycle starts. Remove any pots, pans or dishes that are resting against the spray arm of the dishwasher. Reload the dishwasher so that you have an even amount of items on each side. This will help the dishwasher run more efficiently to clean your dishes.

7. Place a cup of white vinegar on the bottom of the dishwasher and run a wash cycle without dishes inside if you notice filming or white spots on your glasses. Vinegar helps reduce streaking and spotting and is also effective at combating bad odors in the dishwasher.

8. Check your hot water heater and turn up the temperature if the dishwasher is running for a long time. The dishwasher will take an excessively long time to run if the water coming into the appliance is not hot enough. A rule of thumb is: if the water coming from the water heater is not hot enough to shower with, it is not hot enough to do dishes with either. Turning up the temperature on the water heater should fix both problems.

9. Call an authorized Amana service center if you see the "Clean" light flashing. This light is an indication that the SofSound II dishwasher needs professional service.

Write A Tenant'S Movein Letter

Photo, courtesy of stock.xching

Getting used to a new apartment can be a confusing task when you're trying to remember the rules, unpack and keep the kids from bouncing on the bed, all at the same time. Property management can make the transition easier by providing the tenant with a move-in letter, a quick reference that covers the things they need to know.

Instructions

1. List your contact numbers, both for your office and in an emergency so they can reach you during off-hours. As the property management contact, you must be accessible at all times or appoint another party to take over while you take time off.

2. Detail rules that were too numerous to put in the original contract, and refer to the move-in letter within the contract. If you are providing additional tenant screening regulations, you must attach the move-in letter to the contract as a rider and have both parties sign it.

3. Include the proper way to maintain appliances and utilities on the property. Detail instructions for setting the heating and cooling systems, operating the dishwasher and correctly using the commons areas.

4. Mention the policy on roommates, tenant screening, terminate tenancy, report maintenance problems and the safety procedures in place. If your building has a fire escape plan, include it here.

5. Add information the new tenant will need within a few days of occupying the unit. List the names and important contact numbers of the utility providers that will service the unit. This might include telephone, Internet and cable TV provider and power suppliers.

Clean The Glass In The Stove Door

Baking soda has been used in the home since 1846. Modern companies have attempted to dress it up, re-package it, and give it new and improved names, but the truth of the matter is, baking soda does just fine all by itself. Vinegar aside, few household products have the versatility of baking soda, or the cleaning power. Baking soda neutralizes many substances, allowing for easier cleaning. Take a second look at that inconspicuous little box on your shelf. Baking soda can clean even stubborn stains off of an oven door, and so much more.

Instructions

1. Open the oven door and spread old towels out beneath it in order to protect your floor.

2. Fill the sink or bucket with warm soapy water using liquid dish soap.

3. Wet the oven glass with the rag/dishcloth saturated in the warm, soapy water.

4. Pour 1/2-cup baking soda and 1/4-cup powdered dishwasher detergent onto the oven glass to form a paste. Add more water if necessary.

5. Use the scrub brush, in a circular motion, to scrub the glass. The baking soda and dishwasher detergent powder will scour the glass without scratching it. Rinse the scrub brush as needed in clean water.

6. Continue scrubbing and re-applying baking soda and dishwasher detergent powder as needed until all debris and grease has been loosened.

7. Rinse with a clean cloth and water and towel dry.

To Make Your Own Formica Countertop Cleaner

To Make Your Own Formica Countertop Cleaner

Many of us don't have the luxury of buying expensive granite, marble or Corian countertops, so we end up with Formica. Or maybe the Formica was there when we moved into our house or apartment. Formica can be difficult to clean. Many commercial cleansers are too harsh for Formica and will cause them to dull and lose their finish. Any abrasive cleanser will leave scratches on the countertops and make them very dull. Worried about what to use safely on your Formica countertop? This cleaner can be used safely on Formica countertops. The best part is, it is free of any harsh chemicals.

Instructions

1. You will need a spray bottle. Add 3 tablespoons of white vinegar, ¾ of a teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap (NOT dishwasher), ¾ of a teaspoon of olive oil, ¾ of a cup of hot water.

2. Mix ingredients by swirling them around in the spray bottle. Do not shake because you will get foamy soap bubble and have to wait until they settle before using the mixture.

3. Spray down all countertops. Do not make the countertops very wet because excess moisture can cause Formica to warp or lift. Let the mixture sit on the countertops for 1 to 2 minutes. Wipe the countertops down with a damp rag.

4. Use a clean rag dampen with plain water, wipe down the countertops. Dry with a clean rag.

Troubleshooting Kenmore Elite Dishwashers With Blinking Clean Lights

Increase your Kenmore Elite's dishwasher temperature to eliminate blinking lights.

The Kenmore Elite dishwasher is an advanced model that uses a control panel to indicate its cleaning progress and normally displays a solid-colored light when the appliance is running normally. A low water temperature, during the cleaning cycle, will wash, but not sanitize, the dishes and blinks the sanitizing light to notify you of a low water heater temperature. A high water temperature is required to remove bacteria from plates and glasses and requires immediate attention.

Instructions

1. Pull open the dishwasher's door slightly to pause the cleaning cycle then pull the door down once the appliance comes to a complete stop.

2. Turn the Rinse Aid knob to "Refill" and remove the cap if the Liquid Detergent display lights up a tab next to "Add." Pour no more than 5 ounces of detergent into the detergent dispenser then replace the cap back into position.

3. Turn the Dispenser knob to "Lock" and close the dishwasher's door. Press "Cancel/Drain" twice to reset the dishwasher.

4. Press "Normal Wash," "1 Hour Wash" or "Smart Wash" then select "High Temp" to increase the temperature of the dishwasher.

5. Push "Start" to begin the cleaning cycle.

How Does Salt Water Rust Metals

Rust is essentially oxidation, or a chemical interaction involving oxygen. When oxidation occurs in some elements, a thin film is formed as a result--such as the green layer that copper acquires. Other elements, such as iron, show rust as evidence of oxidation. If iron--or metal related to iron--is exposed to an environment both oxygen-rich and friendly toward the catalyst, then the oxidation process will begin. Molecules of iron at the surface of the iron object will exchange atoms with the oxygen in the air, and what atoms are left will form a new substance, the reddish-brown rust.

Air is not always necessary to cause rust, only the presence of oxygen, and oxygen can be found in water as well as air. In fact, water is usually considered the third part of the oxidation process, since it allows the oxygen and the iron to meet. This is why areas with lots of moisture in the air, with the presence of water vapor, have much faster rust rates than dry areas.

To look at it another way, oxidation is an electrochemical process that acts somewhat like a battery, exchanging small amounts of electricity. Like batteries, a solution helps this process by allowing electrons to move more easily between the two elements, and also like batteries, different solutions work better than others. Water takes some of the atoms and changes them into a light form of acid as the oxidation process continues, which helps metal rust even faster.

This acidic transformation occurs with pure water, but when the water is already salty it starts out as a minor acid and becomes an even more powerful electrolyte, facilitating the rusting process. There is then a hierarchy in the rust process. Rust does not easily form in dry climate, but in a wet climate the oxygen can access the metal more easily through the water vapor, and rust occurs much faster. Pure water forms an acidic solution and allows the oxidation process to happen more easily, and salty water works even better since it is already a catalyst. Prime rust conditions occur when the metal is regularly exposed to salt water and air.

For people who want to protect metal tools or vehicles against rust, there are a variety of waxes and oils that can be used to interrupt the oxidation process. Most of these work by not allowing water vapor to come in contact with the metal. Without water to help the elements exchange electrons, rust happens in barely noticeable amounts.
