Homemade Greasecutting Dish Soap

Clean the dishes in your sink by using homemade grease-cutting dish soap.

Creating your own grease-cutting dish soap is simple and cost-effective. When you aren't satisfied with what is available on the market, making homemade dish soap is probably easier than you think. Creating homemade dish soap lets you know exactly what ingredients are going into the product and allows you to control their quality. Homemade dish soap is typically just as effective as the store brand and saves you money.

Instructions

Castille Soap Method

1. Pour two cups of Castille soap into a clean soap-dispensing bottle. You can either use an old bottle that used to contain dish soap or purchase a new bottle.

2. Add 1/2 cup of warm water into the bottle. Pour in 1 tsp. of lemon juice or white vinegar to help cut grease.

3. Mix the ingredients together by shaking the bottle. Shake the bottle again each time before it is used.

Soap Flakes Method

4. Place 1/4 cup of soap flakes or soap shavings and 2 cups of water into a sturdy sauce pan. Place the pan on medium heat.

5. Stir the soap constantly with a wooden spoon until it melts into the water. Avoid allowing the soap and water mixture to come to a boil.

6. Add 1 tsp. of lemon juice or white vinegar to the soap once it has cooled. Pour the solution into a soap bottle.
