Clean Rubber Seals On A Dishwasher

Clean Rubber
Seals on a Dishwasher

A dishwasher's rubber seal creates an air and water barrier between the door and the unit. Food particles collect here over time, which can make this seal less efficient. In addition, a heavily soiled rubber seal contributes to dishwasher odor. You can extend the life of the rubber seal and keep your dishwasher more sanitary by cleaning the seal periodically. Use rubber-safe cleaning products and clean the seal once a month for the best results.

Instructions

1. Wet a kitchen sponge under warm water. Place a few drops of dishwashing soap or another mild cleaner (that does not contain bleach) on the sponge.

2. Open your dishwasher door and run the wet, soapy sponge over the entire rubber seal, scrubbing it.

3. Dampen a toothbrush or a small bottle brush under warm water. Use the brush to scrub stains and food particles from the rubber seal.

4. Saturate the sponge again under warm water. Wipe the rubber seal with the sponge to remove dirt and food particles loosened by scrubbing with the brush.
