Remove Fluorescent Light Covers

Pulling off the fluorescent light cover is easy.

To change out your fluorescent light bulb, clean the inside of your light cover or troubleshoot the light cover, you'll need to know remove the plastic covering your light. If your light cover is old and has not been changed in a long time, it may be difficult to remove the fluorescent light cover for the first time. The fluorescent light cover snaps back on just as easily as it comes off.

Instructions

1. Set up a step ladder underneath your fluorescent light fixture. Alternately, use a chair. Make sure the step ladder or chair is stable and balances evenly on all four legs.

2. Climb up your ladder or chair. Look at the fluorescent light cover, checking along its sides. Check for clips that hold the light cover over the light. Most fluorescent light covers clip in place.

3. Grasp the light cover by the clips and push them in. When you've pushed in the clips, pull down. If the cover sticks, jiggle it back and forth a little bit. Keep pushing in and pulling down until the panel comes out.

4. Climb down the ladder with the fluorescent light cover in your hand.
