Resolve common Bosh dishwasher problems using a troubleshooting guide.
Bosch dishwashers take the effort out of cleaning dishes, cookware and cutlery, saving time at the end of every meal. Troubleshooting your dishwasher if it will not start a cycle involves checking the power supply, the water hoses and the control panel, and looking for an error code. Many of the most common problems have simple solutions and do not require any special tools or expertise to fix. Some instructions may vary based on the particular model of Bosch dishwasher.
Check the Controls
The dishwasher may not start if you make a mistake while selecting a cycle. Choosing a delayed start, not selecting a cycle or forgetting to press the "Start" button may give the impression the dishwasher is malfunctioning without a real fault being present. Hit "Cancel," carefully re-enter your cleaning instructions, firmly close the door and press "Start."
Test the Power Supply
A malfunctioning power supply could stop the dishwasher from responding to any input. Move the dishwasher forward, confirm that the power cord is firmly connected to an outlet and ensure the power is switched on if the dishwasher's outlet has its own switch. Check that the circuit breaker or fuse is working correctly.
Examine the Water Hoses
While the dishwasher is out from underneath the counter, make sure the hot and cold water supply hoses are straight. A kink or other blockage in either of the hoses will prevent water from entering the appliance and prevent the cycle from starting. Make sure both shutoff valves, located where the water hoses meet the wall, are in the position marked "ON" or "OPEN."
Look for an Error Code
Modern kitchen appliances, including several models of Bosch dishwasher, display alphanumeric error codes in the event of a serious problem. Make a note of the code, if one appears, and contact Bosch for service. Knowing the code will help the servicing technician quickly identify and resolve the problem.
