Collect Vaseline Glass

Most glass Vaseline glass collectors acquire Vaseline glass pieces because they love the look of this unusual glass. When you look at Vaseline glass, it has a transparent yellow-green color, but if you look at it with a UV black light, it is neon green. This is because there is one to two percent uranium oxide in the glass formula. Here's some suggestions on collecting Vaseline glass as a hobby.

Instructions

1. Decide if you are going to collect Vaseline glass that has only one design or glass from only one manufacturer. Many people collect this way, while others collect a variety of Vaseline glass pieces that they like, regardless of the category.

2. Purchase a Vaseline glass collector's price guide to help you determine the current market price.

3. Join a Vaseline glass collector's group, such as Vaseline Glass Collectors, Inc. You'll find their website at vaselineglass.org.

4. Browse local antique shops, searching for a piece of Vaseline glass. Let the shop owners know that you collect this type of glass so they'll look for it when they go to auctions, sales and other shops.

5. Search online auction sites and antique shops looking for Vaseline glass to add to your collection.

6. Scour garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores in hopes of finding a piece of Vaseline glass that has been stored away for many years.

7. Attend local antique and glass shows in your hunt for Vaseline glass. Travel to the annual Vaseline glass collector's convention. Just check out the organization's website for dates and the location.
