Icemakers that come installed in Kenmore refrigerators use infrared motion sensor technology to keep your ice bucket full within your freezer. The status of the icemaker and the motion sensor controls can be viewed on the motion sensor panel's LED light above your icemaker. The LED light will remain a solid red color when the system is working properly, but it will blink twice when something is wrong with the optics of the motion sensor.
Instructions
1. Open your freezer door. Make sure the LED light by your Kenmore icemaker is blinking twice and then repeating.
2. View the manual shutoff slide of the icemaker and make sure it is in the "ON" position for the infrared receiver unit.
3. Close the flapper door of the emitter module to allow for the infrared beam to have a path toward the receiver board.
4. Close the door switch if it is open and hold down the flapper door for the emitter module.
5. Allow for at least one minute,, seeing if the blinking stops. The light should then remain off for five minutes as the icemaker goes into harvest mode and then the light will remain solid.
