Replace A Spray Arm In Hotpoint Dishwashers

Replace a Spray Arm in Hotpoint Dishwashers

When you find that your dishes are not rinsing clean in your Hotpoint dishwasher, you may need to replace the spray arm. The spray arm may not appear to have any connecting fasteners, and in fact it does not. The plastic piece between the arm and the bottom of the dishwasher is part of the spray arm assembly. There are two punch clips that lock the spray arm into place. You can purchase replacement spray arms at home improvement centers or appliance repair centers.

Instructions

1. Flip the circuit breaker to the dishwasher to the "off" position. The circuit breaker is inside the home electrical panel.

2. Open your Hotpoint dishwasher door and pull out the bottom dish rack. You do not have to remove the upper dish rack unless you feel it would give you more working room.

3. Rotate the dishwasher spray arm to locate the two clips that secure the arm to the dishwasher. The clips are two small pieces of plastic that look like they are cut into the hub under the arm.

4. Press the clips inward with your fingers and pull the spray arm out of the dishwasher. Place the new spray arm over the hub shaft and press down until you hear the spray arm lock into position.

5. Place the lower dish rack back into the dishwasher and close the dishwasher door. Flip the circuit breaker to the "on" position.
