Troubleshoot A Frigidaire Elite Dishwasher

The Frigidaire Gallery line of dishwashers includes the company's Elite models. These dishwashers feature up to 14 place settings, Energy Star qualification, a quiet motor, an electronic touch pad, soil sensors, a control lock option, delay start and a large, removable silverware basket. While the dishwasher comes with a limited warranty that can be utilized by owners who have repair issues with the unit, some problems can be fixed at home through some troubleshooting.

Instructions

1. Reload the dishwasher if items are still dirty or glassware is spotted after the wash cycle; use caution not to nest items inside of each other. Use only fresh detergent that is less than eight-months old. Make sure the rinse aid dispenser is full.

2. Check the household water pressure, which should be between 20 and 120 psi, as well as the household water temperature, which should be at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit, if the dishwasher runs for a long time or dishes are left soiled.

3. Select a "Heat" dry option if items are not dry. Refill the rinse aid dispenser and avoid overloading the dishwasher. Note that plastic items might need to be dried with a towel even after a heat dry cycle.

4. Hand wash fine china or delicate glass items if they are getting chipped in the dishwasher. Set delicate pieces in the top rack and secure them in the pins. Check to make sure there is space between the top of the dishwasher and the items in the rack when the top rack is pushed into the dishwasher.

5. Separate aluminum items from other items, specifically stainless steel and silver, if items are becoming discolored during the wash cycle. When metal items rub against each other, stains may result.

6. Avoid stopping the dishwasher during the cycle if there is detergent left in the cup. Use fresh detergent and wipe out any old clumps or residue from the cup prior to use.

7. Remove the knockout plug between the garbage disposer and the dishwasher, and run the garbage disposer if there are drain problems. Clean out the air gap, if there is one, and straighten the drain hose so that it is not blocked or bent.

8. Make sure the water supply is turned on if the dishwasher is not filling with water. Move the overfill protector in the bottom of the tub so that it is free to float up and down during the wash cycle.

9. Remove any silverware or metal items if items are filmy or spotted after washing. Start a "Normal Wash" cycle without any detergent. Run the dishwasher for ten minutes, then open the door and pour in 2 cups of white vinegar. Close the door and press "Start" to let the dishwasher finish its cycle.
