My Frigidaire Dishwasher Is Leaking From The Corners

A Frigidaire dishwasher leaking from the corners has too much water in the dishwasher tub or the door is not sealing properly. Several factors can contribute to excessive water in the dishwasher. Determining the exact reason for leaks requires an inspection that you can do on your own.

Gaskets

Faulty door gaskets can cause a Frigidaire dishwasher to leak from the corners. There is a gasket in each corner of the door to help seal the door shut. Gaskets that are torn, cracked or missing may allow leaking.

Examination

Find the gaskets by opening the door and looking at each corner. Gaskets may vary depending on the model of the Frigidaire dishwasher but usually are horseshoe-shaped. Call the Frigidaire customer service department for help over the phone locating the gaskets, if necessary. You can get the number from your dishwasher's service manual or online. Ask the representative remove the gasket, and then describe its condition to confirm that it appears faulty.

Replacement

Door gaskets are an easy do-it-yourself project and should not require a service visit unless your dishwasher is under warranty. In that case, you can opt to allow a repair professional do the job if the warranty covers the visit.

Excessive Water

Leaks specifically from the corners are most likely because of faulty gaskets. But there are other causes for leaks as well. Frigidaire dishwashers have a device called an overfill protection float in the bottom-left corner. The float regulates the amount of water drawn into the dishwasher during washing. Excessive water will cause leaks, especially in the left corner around the float.

Suds

Frigidaire reports that excess suds may cause the dishwasher to overflow, with suds escaping from all corners. Homeowners can avoid this by using detergent that is designed for automatic dishwashers. Follow instructions on the detergent package to avoid using too much.

Installation

Dishwashers that are not level may leak, so homeowners should confirm that their dishwasher is installed properly . The installation instructions included with the dishwasher's service manual can be used to confirm the dishwasher is level with the floor.
