Troubleshoot Kitchen Aid Range Problems

The Kitchen Aid range features a smooth cooktop and an oven for cooking and baking at home. This consumer-grade appliance features an electronic control panel with an automatic self-cleaning cycle. As you use your Kitchen Aid range, you may experience some performance problems with the unit. Instead of calling a service technician to inspect it, you can troubleshoot the appliance on your own.


Instructions


1. Look in your breaker box or fuse box for a tripped breaker or blown fuse if nothing will operate. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse to fix. If the problem continues, you should consult a local electrician.


2. Cook only in cookware that is the same size as the cooking area to prevent excessive heat around cookware on the cooktop.


3. Push in the control knob before turning it to make a selection, if you can't get the cooktop to operate. Just turning without pushing it in will not work. If you have done this and it still doesn't work, the cooktop may be locked. Unlock by pressing the "Control Lock/All Off" button and holding it for five seconds.


4. Adjust the legs of the range with a wrench to level if if you are not getting the cooking results you expect, such as uneven cooking. Also make sure you have the right temperature selected for cooking.


5. Unlock the oven if it is not operating by pressing the "Control Lock/All Off" button and holding it for five seconds. Also make sure that you have pressed the "Start" button after selecting your oven temperature.


6. Press the "Options" button and then "6" to calibrate the oven if the temperature is too hot or too cold for you. Increase the temperature by pressing "3" and decrease it by pressing "6." Once you have finished the calibration, press "Start."


7. Close the oven door fully in order to get the self-cleaning cycle to start. It will not start until the door is fully closed.


8. Clear the range electronic display panel of an error code by pressing "Off." If the error code reappears, it signals that the range needs serviced by a technician. Call Kitchen Aid at 800-422-1230 for assistance in location a technician near you.
