Clean The Ionic Pro

The Sharper Image Ionic Pro series of air purifiers are easy to clean. Even though they come in different shapes and sizes, they all function on standard equipment, so all models clean the same. There's no need to clean them until the indicator light blinks--signaling a cleaning is necessary--or you hear a hissing or crackling sound that is produced by the build-up of soil on the Ionic Pro's blades.

Instructions

1. Turn off the Ionic Pro before cleaning by unplugging it from the wall socket.

2. Grasp the horizontal handle in the very top of the unit and lift it straight out. This will remove the metal blades or grid network where soil accumulates.

3. Wipe the metal blades down with a damp cloth. This is usually all that's necessary, but if there is stubborn soil, you can scrub it away it with a thick baking soda and water paste. Be careful to wipe away every trace of baking soda off the blades afterward.

4. Dry the metal blades with a soft cloth. You may also lay them out on a dish towel and let them air dry, but they must be completely dry before going back into the air purifier.

5. Clean the interior of the housing unit by turning it rapidly upside down then right side up five or six times. You should hear a clicking sound inside the unit as you do this; that's a bead sliding back and forth on the wires, cleaning them.

6. Slide the metal grid back into the unit, making sure it seats evenly with the top of the unit. Plug the unit back in and turn it on again.
