Clean The Interior Of A Stainless Dishwasher

Cleaning the inside of a stainless steel dishwasher is necessary, but not difficult.

Many people aren't aware of the grime and buildup that accumulates on the inside of a dishwasher. Even if the outside of your stainless steel dishwasher looks clean, that doesn't necessarily mean the inside is clean. Food particles and other debris build up inside of the dishwasher and can interfere with the performance of the appliance. Clean the inside of your stainless steel dishwasher periodically to help ensure each load of dishes is being cleaned properly.

Instructions

1. Fill a bowl with hot, soapy water. Dip an old toothbrush into the bowl and scrub around the door, seal, hinges and all crevices and grooves inside of the dishwasher. Rinse out the toothbrush often.

2. Wipe over the areas you scrubbed in Step 1 with a sponge and hot, soapy water to remove all of the loosened debris. Scrub any other obviously dirty areas with the sponge.

3. Wipe down the interior walls, the top and bottom of the dishwasher, the gasket and the inside of the door with the sponge. Remove the bottom rack and wipe around the drain area. Go over the area with a damp rag to remove any loosened debris.

4. Fill an eight oz. cup with white vinegar. Sit the cup upright on the top rack in the inside of the dishwasher. Run the dishwasher through a complete cycle using the hottest water setting. The vinegar sanitizes, washes away loosened debris and removes odors.

5. If you have rust spots on the inside of your stainless steel dishwasher, fill the soap dispenser cup with two tbsp. of powdered citric acid. Run the dishwasher through a complete cycle using hot water. Scrub any rust spots with a rag once the cycle is complete.
