Troubleshoot a Magic Chef Countertop Ice Maker
A Magic Chef countertop ice maker may seem like magic as it produces ice for a big social event. All you have to do is add water, and you have ice for beverages in no time. But you might run into a few party-crashing problems, like the ice maker stops working in the middle of the party, or the ice cubes stick together, or maybe it's not even producing any ice at all. You don't want your guests to have to deal with lukewarm beverages. You'll want to check a few things when trying to figure out why your countertop ice maker is not making ice.
Instructions
1. If the 'Add Water' indicator light is on, check to see if the water in the storage tank is low. If it is, refill it, and the ice maker should produce ice.
2. Remove ice from the ice basket if the 'Ice' indicator light is on. If there is ice in the basket, the ice maker will not produce more until it is emptied.
3. The ice shovel may be stuck if the 'Add Water' and the 'Ice' indicator lights are both blinking. Take out the ice cubes that are blocking the shovel. Restart the ice maker.
4. Ice cubes may stick together if the ice-making cycle is too long. Stop the ice maker. Restart it when the ice that is stuck together melts. Select the 'small ice size' option when restarting.
5. A low water temperature in the inner tank may cause the ice cubes to stick together. Change the water in the reservoir, adding water that is 45 to 90 degrees F.
6. Ice that is left in the appliance for too long may cause the cubes to stick together. Transfer freshly made ice to another container and store in a freezer. This will also prevent the ice cubes in the ice maker from melting.
7. If no ice at all is being produced, check to be sure that the temperature in the room is below 90 degrees F. Be sure to use only cold water in the inner tank of the ice maker.
