Installing a GE Potscrubber 700 dishwasher is not difficult as long as you have the proper tools.
A GE Potscrubber 700 can save you a great deal of time in the kitchen. Most people love to cook, but hate cleaning the dishes when the cooking is complete. The GE Potscrubber 700 saves you from the dishwashing task and features a potscrubbing cycle that gets even the toughest mess off the pots and pans. When you first consider installing a GE dishwasher, you may be concerned with the difficulty of the installation, but with the proper tools, you should be successful.
Instructions
1. Turn off the power to the kitchen at the circuit breaker box. Place a label on the breaker so that someone does not accidentally turn the power on while you are working on the circuit. Turn the hot water supply off at the kitchen sink by closing the valve. Remove the existing tailpiece from the sink drain using a pipe wrench. Install the branch tailpiece using the pipe wrench.
2. Strip the insulation from the end of the electrical wire using the wire strippers. Connect the wires to the kitchen electrical circuit. The white wire is neutral, the black wire is hot and the green wire is the ground. Cover each of the splices using a wire nut after you make the connections. Cut two holes into the sink base cabinet using the drill and hole saw so that you are able to run the water supply line and the dishwasher drain to the sink.
3. Cut into the hot water supply line at the kitchen sink, using a hacksaw. Dry the pipe with a rag. Spread CPVC primer around the ends of the pipe at the cut you just made. Spread CPVC glue on the area that you just put primer on and then insert the CPVC T-fitting between the two ends of the cut. Press the joints together firmly. Cut lengths of CPVC pipe as necessary using the hacksaw in order to run the water line over to the dishwasher, but do not connect it yet.
4. Connect the CPVC-to-copper fitting to the dishwasher, using a pipe wrench to tighten it. Connect the electrical wire to the dishwasher. Place wire nuts on the splices to cover them and keep them from coming apart. Push the wires into the electrical box on the dishwasher and tighten the screws on the wire box cover, using a screwdriver. Push the dishwasher into place under the cabinet. Twist the front legs on the bottom of the dishwasher counter-clockwise until it is level.
5. Secure the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop using a screwdriver and wood screws. Apply CPVC primer to the end of the water line where it will connect to the dishwasher and allow a few seconds for it to dry. Apply CPVC glue to the end of the pipe where the primer is. Connect the end of the pipe to the CPVC-to-copper fitting on the dishwasher. Push the joint together firmly so that it seals.
6. Connect the dishwasher drain to the branch tailpiece, using a pair of pliers to relieve the tension on the hose clamp when you connect it. Attach the bottom kick plate to the dishwasher and tighten the screws with a screwdriver. Allow the CPVC glue to cure for 24 hours before you pressurize the water lines. Turn the power back on at the breaker box to the kitchen circuit. Turn the dishwasher on and run it empty for one cycle after the glue dries. Check the area for leaks.
