Apartments or some homes may not have an outside water spigot available. When you need to water plants, wash a car or clean off walkways, hoses are an essential tool. Connecting the hose to a kitchen sink may be the only alternative. Most faucet spouts are easily removable to add different types of connectors for clothes washers, hoses or dishwashers. It is important to attach a hose to the kitchen sink properly so leaks and water damage do not occur.
Instructions
1. Unscrew the faucet piece on your kitchen sink. This part connects to the faucet where water flows out. Try unscrewing it by hand. If the piece is too tight, wrap it with a section of masking tape. The tape will protect the finish from scratches. Then loosen with pliers. Remove the tape and manually unscrew to take off.
2. Buy a garden hose to aerator adapter. Any home improvement or department store will carry the adapter. Usually, the adapters are universal; however, keep the sales slip in case the adapter does not fit your faucet.
3. Screw the adapter onto your sink. The wide part attaches to the faucet. Hand-tighten and turn on the water. If you have any leaks or water drips, turn off. Wrap a piece of tape around the adapter and tighten with pliers. Remove the tape.
4. Connect the hose to the end of the sink adapter. Manually twist the hose end as tight as possible. Move the other end of the hose to the destination. Turn on the water; if leaks are present, tighten the hose with the pliers.
