Homemade Automatic Dishwasher Detergent

Make your own homemade automatic dishwasher detergent, instead of purchasing it from the store.


Purchasing a dishwasher detergent can add up to a lot of money over time. These commercial dishwasher soaps also can harm the wildlife and pollute water supplies. Instead of purchasing commercial dishwasher detergents, you can make your own environmentally friendly detergent at home. Homemade dishwasher detergents will clean your dishes effectively and save you money.


Instructions


Basic Detergent


1. Combine an equal amount of borax and baking soda in a small container.


2. Add 2 tbsp. of the detergent to one load of dishes.


3. Place a lid over the container. Store it in a cool and dark location.


Powerful Detergent


4. Combine ½ cup of borax with ½ cup of washing soda in a container.


5. Add ¼ cup of citric acid and ¼ cup of kosher salt to the mix.


6. Place the lid on the container securely.


7. Shake the container to mix the ingredients.


8. Add 1 tbsp. of detergent to the dishwasher.
