Luxury Thermador ranges have streamlined handles, hinges, knobs and other components. Though the machine is sophisticated, the hinges on the door can break and the door can fall off. If they aren't broken, the hinges can also become loose and the oven door can come off. Remove the door, repair it and replace it to continue using it.
Instructions
Remove a Broken Door
1. Turn the oven off, unplug it and let it cool completely. Put on gloves and shoes. Shoes are especially important, as the door is heavy and hard to maneuver. Work shoes will protect your feet if the door drops during removal.
2. Open the oven door so that it is parallel to the floor.
3. Pull both hinge clips up so that they are angled toward you. The hinge clips are located in the area where the door intersects with the oven.
4. Close the door slowly until it stops. The hinge will prevent you from being able to close the door completely.
5. Grasp the door on either side and lift it straight up. You will meet some spring resistance; pull hard to unlock the door. Pull it straight out of the oven to remove the door.
Fix and Reinstall a Broken Door
6. Remove broken hinges by unscrewing them and removing them.
7. Tighten replacement hinges into the door with the screws.
8. Tighten any loose screws with a Philips-head screwdriver.
9. Grasp the door on either side and lower the hinges into the slots on the front of the oven.
10. Rock the door into the oven until it clicks into place.
11. Open the door until it is parallel to the floor.
12. Push the hinge clips into the inside of the oven.
13. Close the door and open it again to test the hinges.
