You can fix many problems with your Frigidaire front-load washer by checking water supply lines and hoses, electrical connections, detergent use and load sizes. Sometimes an issue that seems major, such as water not draining from the washer, is caused by a simple problem like a kinked hose. If you've tried all the recommended fixes and still have problems, call Frigidaire's customer service line.
Noises
Expect a certain amount of motor noise during the spin cycle. A high-pitched whine is normal.
Clanking and rattling noises might be the result of belt buckles and metal fasteners hitting the tub. Turn the clothes inside out. Check the drum for loose change, pins or other objects. If neither of these is the source of the noise, there might be a loose object in the pump. Call your authorized repair person.
A squealing sound along with an odor of burning rubber means you have overloaded your washer. Stop the washer and remove some of the clothes.
The washer might make a thumping sound when washing a heavy load. This is normal, but if the sound continues, it can mean the washer's out of balance. Stop the washer and distribute the clothes evenly.
If the washer is vibrating, it's not sitting solidly on the floor. Move it until it sits solidly. If needed, adjust the leveling legs. It might also vibrate if the shipping blocks and bolts weren't removed when the washer was installed, or the wash load isn't distributed evenly.
Operation Problems
If the washer won't start, check the following:
First make sure the power cord is plugged in and that it fits securely into the outlet.
If a fuse blows, a circuit breaker is tripped or there's a power outage, reset the breaker or replace the fuse. Don't increase the fuse capacity. If you have a problem with an overloaded circuit, have a qualified electrician correct it.
Make sure the water supply faucets are turned on.
The washer will stop running if the motor has overheated. If you haven't turned it off, it will restart after a 30-minute cool-down period.
The dispenser drawer isn't closed.
If the washer won't spin, make sure that the washer door and/or the dispenser door are closed. If your load is too small to trigger the spin cycle, add a few more items to balance the load.
If there's dirt or debris left behind in the drum, clean the drum with a mild liquid cleaner, then rinse it. To avoid this problem, shake sand, dirt and other debris from heavily soiled clothes before washing them.
Water Problems
Water remaining in the bellows or the bleach and fabric softener dispensers after a wash cycle is normal. You can remove the dispenser drawer and empty the water into the washer or a sink.
If the clothes are too wet after the spin cycle, you're overloading the washer, the load is too small, the load is out of balance or the drain hose is kinked. Wash the recommended load size and make sure the load is evenly balanced. Check the drain hose to make sure it's not kinked.
If the washer doesn't fill with water or fills slowly, the water supply at the faucet you're using might not be sufficient. Check another faucet. Or wait until the water supply and water pressure increase Make sure the hot and cold water supply faucets are completely open. Make sure water isn't being used elsewhere in the house, which will decrease the water pressure. Check the water supply hoses for kinks.
If the hot water isn't hot, make sure your water heater setting is correct. You can check the water temperature with a candy or meat thermometer. Adjust the setting so that your hot water is at least 120 degrees F. Your hot-water heater may be too far away from the washer. Someone else in the house may be using hot water, or you may have used up the available hot water before starting a wash load. You might need a larger hot-water system.
If the water doesn't drain from the washer, or it drains slowly, check the drain hose to make sure it's not clogged and is straight, without kinks.
If the there's a water leak, check the water supply hose connections at the faucet and at the washer. and tighten them if necessary. Make sure you've installed the rubber washers to seal the connections. Check the drain pipes in your house for clogs. You might need to call a plumber to clear the drains.
If your washer is oversudsing, you might be using the wrong detergent. You need to use a low-sudsing product. Or you might be using too much detergent. Rinse the clothes a second time and follow the detergent manufacturer's guidelines.
If the wash and rinse water temperatures are wrong, the hot and cold supply hoses are connected in reverse. Make sure they're connected properly.
If water is coming into the washer but not filling the drum, your drain hose standpipe is too short. The standpipe needs to be at least 23.6 inches high for the water to reach the tub.
