Use A George Foreman Grill G5

George Foreman
grills are small, electric machines designed for indoor cooking. According to the manufacturer, the Foreman grills can help you cook easy low-fat meals--the grill is sloped so grease and fat run off your food. Since their introduction in 1995, these small grills have become a fixture in many American kitchens. In fact, the technology website CNET reports that over 55 million George Foreman grills have been sold. According to the manufacturer, the following steps will help you get the most out of your new Foreman grill. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Clean each of the grilling components before you use the grill for the first time. Wipe down each of the grilling plates and the baking pan with a damp sponge.

2. Attach the appropriate grill plates depending on what type of food you will be cooking. The George Foreman G5 comes with five plates, including one for general grilling, one for steak, two for waffles and one for baking. Release the handles on each side of the grill, place the desired plate on the bottom of the grill and snap the handles back into position. For waffles, snap a plate into the top of the appliance as well.

3. Plug your grill into a nearby wall outlet and set the temperature dial to the desired temperature--low, medium or high. A green light will illuminate on the top of the grill; when the grill is sufficiently heated, the green light will turn off.

4. Slide the included grease pan under the grill to catch the grease as it runs down the sloped grill. Open the lid and lightly spray the grilling plate with cooking spray.

5. Place your food on the bottom grilling plate and close the lid. You can grill a number of dishes on the George Foreman Grill G5, including chicken breasts, hamburgers, steaks, slices of pork tenderloin and even sliced vegetables. To use the waffle iron or the baking pan, simply pour the batter directly into the bottom of the pan and close the lid.

6. Grill your food until it is done. According to the manufacturer, hamburgers will cook in about 3 to 5 minutes, chicken breasts in 6 to 8 minutes and shrimp will cook in a little over 1 minute on medium heat. See the owner's manual for a complete list of cooking times.

7. Remove your food from the grill using the spatula included with the grill. Turn the grill off using the dial on the top of the grill.

8. Clean the grill plates after the grill has completely cooled. Simply use a paper towel to push any excess grease into the grease pan; wash the grease pan and grill plates with a sponge and liquid dish soap, or put them in the dishwasher.

9. Experiment with cooking different foods on your George Foreman G5 Grill. Meat is, of course, a popular choice, but try different vegetables as well, including portobello mushrooms, sliced zucchini or sliced red bell peppers. Use the baking pan for cornbread or brownies.
