Troubleshoot A Bosch Oven

The oven can be calibrated if food takes longer to cook than expected.

German-engineered, Bosch ovens are a bit more computerized and high tech than some domestic models. One advantage of this is a comprehensive error code reporting system in the display. Fault codes appear in the display and will often show instructions on correct the issue. The ovens include fans for convection and for cooling which can prompt concern when they appear to run unnecessarily. This is normal, however.

Instructions

1. Follow the instructions if you see a message in the display. The message will be proceeded with the character "E." Follow the instructions on the display. If there aren't any instructions and you just see the "E" followed by a code, press the "Info" button.

2. Allow the oven to cool and then try the door if the oven door is locked shut and won't open. It's a safety feature. Turn the oven off at the home's circuit breaker and wait five minutes if the door won't open even after the oven should have cooled.

3. Follow the recipe accurately if the cooking results are poor. The oven can be calibrated if food takes longer to cook than expected, is overcooked, or the food is too brown or too light. Enter the "Setup" menu and select the "Temperature Offset." Enter a figure you'd like as an offset. This will raise or lower the actual temperature by the amount you select. It's a good tool to use if you have been using an oven with inaccurate temperature calibration and have gotten used to it.

4. Manually reduce the oven temperature by 25 degrees if you haven't selected "Automatic Convection Conversion" and the Convection Bake/True Convection results are not acceptable. Use the plus and minus buttons.
