Write A Bill Of Sale On An Appliance

A bill of sale documents your sales transaction.

A bill of sale is, simply put, a legal document. The purpose of this document is to provide details about the sale of a particular item and its transfer of ownership from you to someone else, or from someone else to you. For example, if you are selling a large appliance from your office to another business, you will need to provide the other business a bill of sale that shows the other business has paid for the item and how much it paid. You should keep a copy of the bill of sale for your own records.

Instructions

1. Include your name, the type of appliance and the person or business you're selling the item to as the first pieces of information in your bill of sale. A draft of your first paragraph might read, "I, Joe Smith, am transferring ownership of a refrigerator to Mary Jones."

2. Add the roles of each person or business, as well as the price you're selling the appliance fo,r to your first paragraph. It would then read, "I, Joe Smith, (seller) am transferring ownership of a refrigerator to Mary Jones (buyer) for the price of $350."

3. Add more detailed information about the appliance. Underneath the first paragraph you would write "Refrigerator Details," including the brand, the model number and the year it was manufactured."

4. Write a disclaimer in your bill of sale that all of the information provided within it is accurate. It might read, "I, the seller, agree that all of the information included in this bill of sale, to the best of my knowledge, is accurate and true."

5. Write a disclaimer from the perspective of the buyer and include the terms of the sale. For example, you might write, "I, the buyer, accept this bill of sale as an accurate description of my purchase. I understand that there is no guarantee or warranty for the product described above and that I am purchasing it 'as is'."

6. Include the date you sold the appliance on the bill of sale.

7. Provide spaces for you and the buyer to write in personal information. Information you should include are names, signatures, driver's license numbers and states of issue, addresses and phone numbers.
