The Kenmore Elite 13182 is an Energy Star-certified residential dishwasher known as the Ultra Wash. The government-backed Energy Star program helps consumers and businesses develop environmentally sustainable energy practices by buying certain products. Sold exclusively by Sears, the Kenmore Elite 13182 is part of the 665.1318 series of dishwashers. All of these products have life specifications. Features of the dishwasher include a triple filtration system, pressurized spray nozzles and a SmartWash cycle.
Filters
The Kenmore Elite 665.1318 series product manual describes the specifications for the dishwasher's triple filtration system. The 13182 comes equipped with three different filters, including coarse, fine and micro. The coarse filter helps to block large objects from entering and potentially clogging the pump. The fine filter prevents food from being recirculated through the washer's water. The micro filter backs up the fine filter and exists to prevent very small, or micro, food particles from reentering the washer. Filters should be cleaned regularly.
Water Usage
The Kenmore Elite 13182 uses varying amounts of water, contingent upon the wash cycle. The 13182 uses 4.2 gallons of water in the Light to Medium SmartWash cycle, 4.8 gallons in the Tough Smart cycle, and 6.9 gallons in the Heavy Smart cycle. The maximum water expenditure of the machine is eight gallons in the 1-Hour Wash cycle. The minimum is 2.1 gallons in the 15-minute Quick Rinse cycle. High Temperature and Sani Rinse options will add up to 2.1 gallons of water to each wash cycle.
Time
According to page 15 of the Kenmore Elite 665.1318 series manual, energy-saving dishwashers have longer wash times than standard dishwashers because of advanced filtration systems. Wash times range from 15 or 16 minutes to 203 minutes, or 3 hours and 23 minutes. The typical time range for standard wash cycles runs from 105 minutes for the Light to Medium China Gentle cycle to 150 minutes in the Heavy/Baked-On Pots Pans cycle. The 1-Hour Wash cycle runs for 58 minutes.
Capacity
The adjustable top rack of the Kenmore Elite 13182 dishwasher allows for three capacity settings. If the top rack is set 9 inches below the ceiling of the unit, the bottom rack will have a clearance of 13 inches. This permits large items such as plates and pots to be placed on the bottom rack. Placing the top rack 11 inches below the ceiling of the unit will permit a lower rack clearance of 11 inches, thus giving the racks similar capacity. To load especially large items like cookie sheets and cutting boards, remove the top rack completely.
