Install A Thermador Door

A properly installed door ensures even cooking of food.

Thermador has been making cooking appliances for more than 75 years. In fact, they introduced the first self-cleaning oven to the home market. Homeowners can install a Thermador door, whether they are installing a new oven or replacing a broken door. This process takes only a few minutes and requires no special tools. The door itself is fairly heavy, however, and you may want to have a helper close by.

Instructions

1. Hold the new door on both sides of the door. You will be holding the door at an angle when installing it, so make sure you can handle the weight of the door. If not, have a helper hold one side while you hold the other.

2. Insert the hinges on the door into the hinge slots on the oven. The slots are on both sides of the oven opening. The door position at this point is open to about the half-way point. If you meet any resistance trying to insert the hinges, rock the door slightly from side to side until it is properly seated.

3. Lower the door so it is in the fully open position. This exposes the hinge clips. Push the hinge clips toward the oven opening so they touch the hinge itself.

4. Open and close the door slowly to test the door. The door needs to open and close smoothly. With the door closed, look at the oven. The door should be straight. If the door is not working smoothly or if it is crooked, unclip the hinges, remove the door and reinstall it. Often it is a case of improper seating when either -- or both -- of these situations occur.
