Cook With Turbo Ovens

Turbo oven

A turbo oven is a type of convection oven. Usually manufactured for household use, turbo ovens are circular glass bowls with a fan in the lid and one or more wire racks for food. The fan creates currents of hot air that flow around the circular oven, cooking food rapidly and allowing fats and oils to drip away. As this sample dinner will prove, turbo ovens make healthy cooking a quick and easy process. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. If you have never used your turbo oven before, you must run it for five minutes before cooking with it for the first time. Set the timer to five minutes and the thermostat to 250 degrees F. After the timer goes off, allow the oven to cool for five minutes. This preliminary process burns off the chemicals used to manufacture the heating elements.

2. Prepare chicken and vegetables: rub olive oil, lemon pepper and salt under and over the skin of the chicken. Season carrots and potatoes to your liking.

3. Place the chicken on one rack and the vegetables on the other. If the vegetables are below the chicken, they will likely be more flavorful; fats will drip from the chicken to the vegetables and then be wicked away by the turbo oven's hot currents.

4. Set the oven thermostat to 400 degrees F and the timer to 20 minutes. If the chicken is frozen, set the timer to 35 minutes.

5. Remove the vegetables after 15 minutes; they should be soft and flavorful but not overcooked. Cover the vegetables so that they do not get cold.

6. Remove the chicken after the timer goes off, put chicken and vegetables together on your plate, and enjoy your meal.
