Clean Lime From Heating Elements

Use vinegar to remove lime from heating elements. Vinegar is a natural and safe way to remove lime. Distilled white vinegar is not flammable. The acid in the vinegar is diluted by water. The vinegar smell disappears as it dries, so you don't have to worry about lasting odor. To prevent lime build-up, try to keep water off the elements and wipe them down frequently if they are exposed to water. Heating elements that receive water exposure include slow cookers and mug warmers.

Instructions

1. Unplug the appliance. Let the heating elements cool completely.

2. Pour vinegar onto the cloth.

3. Wipe the heat element with the cloth.

4. Dip the toothbrush in vinegar. Scrub the heating elements.

5. Wipe loose lime pieces off with a cloth.

6. Leave alone to dry.
