A stainless steel dishwasher is only stainless on the outside of the appliance. The inside of the dishwasher is just as prone to stains and buildup as any other dishwasher. Clean your dishwasher every couple of months to keep it operating smoothly. Removing stains from your stainless steel dishwasher is simple and can be completed in a few minutes.
Instructions
1. Open your dishwasher, and remove all dishes and silverware. Run a wash cycle according to the instructions for your particular dishwasher.
2. Open the dishwasher, and remove the bottom rack by pulling it out.
3. Dip a toothbrush into warm, soapy water, and use it to clean around the door of the dishwasher, as well as between the rubber seal and the door.
4. Dip a sponge into soapy water, and use it to clean the drain in the center of the dishwasher.
5. Sprinkle a cupful of baking soda around the inside of the dishwasher, and close the dishwasher door. Run the dishwasher on its hottest cycle.
6. If there are rust stains in the appliance, open the dishwasher door, and fill the internal soap dispenser cup with a rust-removing cleaner for home appliances. You can find these cleaners in the detergent section of your supermarket.
7. Run the dishwasher through another wash cycle.
