Where Would I Find A Dishwashing Job

Find a dishwashing job at a restaurant, eatery, hospital or amusement park.

Individuals seeking a dishwashing job can choose from a variety of industries and employer types. In May 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported there were 512,990 dishwasher jobs in the United States. Hospitals, hotels, restaurants or amusement parks are among many establishments where you can find a dishwashing job.

Full-Service Restaurants

Full-service restaurants employ the highest number of dishwashers across all industries. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 65 percent of all dishwashers in the United States work for full-service restaurants. A dishwasher at a full-service restaurant performs dish washing and pot washing as well as general cleaning and equipment cleaning.

Limited-Service Eating Places

The limited-service eating places industry group employs the second-highest number of dishwashers in the United States. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some 9 percent of all dishwashers in the United States worked for limited-service eating places in May 2009. If you want to work in this industry, find a dishwashing job at a fast food restaurant or other establishment where patrons order and pay for their food before eating.

Traveler Accomodation

Hotels, motels, casino hotels and other travel accommodation facilities employed 30,880 dishwashers in the United States in May 2009. According to income data on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, dishwashers in the traveler accommodation industry earn more than dishwashers in full-service and limited-service eateries. The annual mean wage of a dishwasher employed by a travel accommodation facility is approximately $3,600 more than the average mean wage of a dishwasher employed by a full-service or limited-service eatery.

Other Industries

You can find a dishwashing job in industries other than food service and hospitality. Other employers of dishwashers include amusement parks, country clubs, ski resorts and bowling centers. General medical and surgical hospitals and senior living residential facilities also employ dishwashers.
