Troubleshoot A Fisher Paykel

Wrap strong-smelling foods to avoid strange-tasting ice cubes.

A Fisher & Paykel refrigerator keeps your groceries cool in the fresh food compartment or frozen in the freezer above. When opening the fresh food compartment, a light illuminates the space to help you locate items. The temperature is adjustable for either compartment by way of the temperature controller located in the fresh food compartment. After you've set up your unit, you might experience problems with temperature stabilization in one or both compartments. You'll want to have your unit working perfectly before relying on it and filling it with meals.

Instructions

Power Failure

1. Pull the refrigerator out and turn it so the back is easily accessible.

2. Examine the power cord from the refrigerator to the wall for frays or damage. If the cord is damaged, replace it.

3. Unplug the power cord from the wall for a few seconds to reset the connection. As you wait, plug in a different appliance into the same outlet to confirm that it's working. Plug the power cord in firmly.

4. Look at your house fuse for the outlet to confirm that it hasn't been blown or tripped.

Light Not Working

5. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet after you've determined that the unit is receiving power and the halogen light bulb needs to be replaced.

6. Open the refrigerator door and remove the lens cover (located under the roof of the fridge toward the front) using a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry it off.

7. Reach in, grab the old bulb, and pull it out slowly from the socket.

8. Avoid putting your fingers on the new bulb directly. Use the plastic bag it came in to hold it. Insert the new bulb into the socket, prongs first. Remove the plastic from the bulb and replace the lens cover.

9. Plug the power cord back into the wall.

Too Warm/Cold

10. Refrain from opening the refrigerator door to allow the temperature to even out if your storage compartments are too warm. This can be caused from the door being opened too often or a lot of food being added.

11. Open the lower compartment and adjust the controller in the back of the unit to manipulate the temperature.

12. Push the compartment selection button to specify whether you'd like to adjust the temperature in the freezer or the fresh food compartment. You will see a thermometer indicating the temperature of both.

13. Push the "Decrease Temperature" button to make the compartment of your choice colder. Push the "Increase Temperature" button to make the compartment warmer.

14. Move items that are sensitive to freezing away from the air vents and back of the shelf if the food is freezing in the fresh food compartment.
