Maytag Whisper 300 Series Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting your Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher can save you money in repairs.

Troubleshooting your Maytag "Quiet" Series 300 dishwasher ensures everything the dishwasher requires, including electricity and water, are available and properly connected if the appliance stops working. The dishwasher's controls may also be a source of trouble if they are not used correctly prior to starting a cleaning cycle. Troubleshooting your Maytag Quiet Series 300 can save you money if the appliance is outside of its warranty period by forestalling the need to call a service technician.

Instructions

1. Go over the buttons on the control panel a second time if the dishwasher isn't running; you might be making a mistake programming the dishwasher. Press one of the wash cycle pads on the control panel, choosing from "Normal Wash," "Heavy Wash," "Light Wash," "Auto Clean," "Rinse Only" or "Insta-Wash." "Rinse Only" and "Insta-Wash" are abbreviated versions of the other cycles and do not provide the same level of cleaning. Press an "Option" button and hit "Start/Pause" when you are ready to begin. The "Delay" option lets you start the cycle later.

2. Open and tightly close the door, making sure nothing inside the dishwasher is stopping the latch clicking shut, if the machine continues to balk. The Maytag Whisper 300 dishwasher won't start if the door is left unlatched. Large pots, pans and plates might be preventing the door closing. Ensure no cutlery is hanging below the drawers, restricting the spinning water jets. The cycle resumes automatically once you close the door.

3. Cancel the dishwasher's child lock by holding down the "Heated Dry" or "Control Lock" button for three seconds until the small light above the button goes out. The controls are switched off when the dishwasher's child lock is active, preventing children changing wash options or starting the appliance while unsupervised.

4. Take a look behind the dishwasher if the above steps fail to make a difference; ensure the hot and cold water valves are turned on and the supply and drainage hoses are straight, without kinks. The dishwasher won't fill if it cannot draw water from the plumbing. Make sure the power cord is connected directly to a working outlet, without extension cords or multi-plug adapters, and check the outlet is switched on, if possible in your home. The dishwasher might have been accidentally unplugged or switched off.

5. Open the dishwasher and check the drain cover on the floor of the appliance if drain is blocked; the appliance may report an error or have a pool of water remaining in the appliance once the cycle is finished if this happens. Food washed off your plates could have gathered and blocked the drain. Clean away and food scraps blocking the drain and try the dishwasher again. .
