Frigidaire Dishwasher Repair Help

Frigidaire, a brand of appliances sold by Electrolux, offers consumer home appliances like refrigerators, ranges and dishwashers. It produces quality, durable dishwashers. Even these dishwashers, however, can have operational problems. Troubleshoot minor problems with your dishwasher to avoid repair fees, which can cost more than what you paid for the dishwasher. Always disconnect your dishwasher from the power source before attempting to fix it.

Not Filling/Leaks

If your Frigidaire dishwasher tub is not filling, verify that the door is completely closed and that the water supply valve is in the "On" position. Check the water inlet hose, and remove any lime buildup or debris. Examine the float switch, and press on it to free it if it is stuck. If it still won't freely move, replace it. Replace the water inlet valve if broken. If your dishwasher is leaking, clean the door gaskets so that the door completely shuts. Look at your water inlet and drainage hoses, and replace if cracked or split. Only use fresh detergent to prevent over-sudsing.

No Power

If you don't have any power to your Frigidaire dishwasher, verify that the power is on and that the dishwasher is plugged into an outlet. Check the circuit breaker, and reset if it has been tripped. Examine the fuses, and look for black ones or fuses with broken wires. Replace these fuses. Open up the front panel of your dishwasher, and look at the wires. If broken or frayed, replace the wires. Examine the switch, which is located in the top panel. The switch generally has four wires connected via a plastic casing. Replace the switch if damaged.

Noise/Odor

Your dishwasher normally makes a grinding noise while it is operating. Look at the pump, which is located underneath the spray arm. Remove any debris caught in the pump. If you hear a squealing sound, examine the dishwasher fan. If the arm of the fan is loose, tighten it. If the fan is rusted, replace it. Examine the motor bearings to see if they are wet. Replace the spin seal if the bearings are wet. If the motor shaft is no longer connected to the motor shaft, replace the motor. Wash your dishes every two to three days to eliminate odors.

Cleaning

Use a rinse aid if your dishes have spots or are cloudy. Use extra detergent if you have soft water, and use a water softener if you have hard water. Place a filter on the water inlet valve if your water has a high mineral content. Check the temperature of your water if you still have food on your dishes after a cleaning cycle. Place a thermometer under the kitchen faucet. If the temperature is below 120 degrees Fahrenheit, increase the water temperature on your water heater. Determine the water pressure for your home by using a water pressure gauge. If the water pressure is below 30 psi, contact your water supplier.
