Differences In The Ge Profile & Monogram

Monogram and Visibility appliances can be purchased singly or in packages.

Monogram and Visibility are two stigma of appliances manufactured by General Electric. Besides the shared parent company, the brands have a number of things in common, including a similar range of products and the prevalent use of tasteful stainless steel facades. However, given that Profile and Monogram are unique brands, there are enough differences between the two to warrant comparison. Significant differences include the range and intended use of products in the respective lines.

Product Range

General Electric's Profile brand has a larger range of products than company's Monogram brand, though Monogram has a greater depth of appliances available. Monogram products are designed exclusively for use in kitchens, while the products of the Profile brand include washers and dryers. However, the Monogram line has more products with a greater degree of specialization than does Profile. For instance, while both brands offer a full range of refrigerators, beverage centers and wine coolers, the Monogram line also offers double-drawer, fresh food and indoor/outdoor under-counter fridges and bar refrigerators with ice makers, while the Profile line does not.

Product Use

A major difference between the Profile and Monogram brands is the intended use of the products. Profile appliances are designed and built exclusively for in-home use. The Monogram brand, however, has products designed and manufactured for both domestic and professional-use products. Professional-use Monogram products, such as refrigerators and range tops, are made from more heavy-duty material than products intended for domestic use. Professional chefs were hired to consult in the design of Monogram products. No such endeavor was undertaken for the Profile line.

Installation

Products in both the Profile and Monogram brands are designed for easy home installation. Refrigerators, dishwashers, trash compactors and more are built to be fit into open spaces and attached to power and water supplies with ease. However, some products in the Monogram line can only be installed in areas designed specifically for the product. For instance, the Monogram brand offers a line of under-counter drawers equipped with refrigeration equipment for additional cold storage space. These drawers can only be installed in islands or counters made of materials that will not corrode upon continuous contact with cold and moist surfaces. A power supply is also required.
