Thermador Oven Troubleshooting

Thermador, a brand of appliances sold by Bosch and Siemens Household Appliances, offers different models of consumer ovens, including single and double ovens. Thermador ovens are created to last for a long time. If you do have problems with your oven, Thermador recommends that you try troubleshooting the issue yourself. This you saves you both time and money on technician visits and fees.

Operation

If your oven won't turn on, check to see if it's plugged into the wall and that you have not blown a fuse or tripped the circuit breaker. Never plug your oven into an extension cord or adapter. Plug it directly into the wall outlet. If your oven won't heat, check to see if you have selected a temperature setting and that the oven is on. If your oven door won't open, turn off the circuit breaker, and let the oven rest for five minutes. Turn the circuit breaker on, and try to open the door. Check to see if you have power if your oven clock and timer won't work.

Cooking

Move your food up to a higher rack if it's burning on the bottom. Evenly spread out batter in the pan, and allow enough air to circulate around your food. Check your oven temperature setting if your food is over- or under-cooked. Raise the temperature to a higher setting if your food takes too long to cook. Always follow the recipe heating guidelines, and try preheating your oven. Always use the correct pan for your food item.

Self-Cleaning

Allow your oven to cool down before you turn it on to the self-cleaning mode. If the self-cleaning mode won't start, check to see if the latch is engaged, and check to see if you have pressed the cleaning button. If your door won't latch, then you must contact a technician. Allow your oven to cool down before trying to disengage the lock. It is normal for your oven not to be completely clean if it was extremely dirty. Run the self-cleaning cycle again and for a longer time.

Additional Concerns

It is normal for your oven to emit a strong odor when it's new. If it's not new, then the oven is dirty. Turn on the self-cleaning cycle if it's a self-cleaning oven, or clean it manually. It is normal for your fan to run even during non-convection heating modes or when the oven is off. It is also normal for steam or air to come out of the oven vent. Clean your control panel if you get no response when you touch it. Change out any burnt-out oven bulbs. Always check your user manual for error code definitions, since these vary by model.
