Clean Stove Burner Grates

After every great meal there is always the clean up to look forward to. It takes a little arm power to get those gas stoves cleaned efficiently, especially the stove burner grates. Use the suggestions that follow to help in getting your stove burner grates cleaned up and ready to cook again.

Instructions

1. Turn off both the stove top and the oven. Be sure to let them cool completely before starting to clean the burner grates.

2. Remove the burner grates from the stove top. Place them over a newspaper or trash bag and use a scraping sponge or cloth to knock loose any stuck-on food or grime buildup.

3. Soak the burner grates in a dish pan with warm soapy water overnight if necessary. If there is extreme buildup, scrub the burner grates with a paste mixture of baking soda and water. Repeat this several times as needed to remove all the grime buildup. For extreme build-up use a non abrasive kitchen cleanser such as Bar Keepers Friend or Bon Ami. Scrub the grates thoroughly, wash in soapy water, rinse well and dry completely.

4. Try different methods of cleaning the burner grates depending upon your preference. Place the burner grates in a plastic dish pan or even in a plastic trash bag. Spray the burner grates with oven cleaner and let soak overnight. Then, wash, rinse and dry as usual.

5. Put the burner grates in the dishwasher for a really quick and easy clean up. This works best if there isn't too much build up on the burner grates. It is wise to wash the burner grates in the dishwasher alone.
