Simply change the color of your fridge with colored appliance panels.
It doesn't seem too long ago when harvest gold and avocado green were the colors of choice when it came to appliances. Today, most people like sleeker style and colors like black and stainless steel. If your refrigerator is in good working condition but you just can't stand its color, consider giving it a mini face lift. You can purchase stainless steel or colored panels that fit right over your current refrigerator to give it a new look without the big price. These panels can be purchased from online stores like AP Wagner and Kitchen Source; from appliance manufacturers like Jenn-Air and Whirlpool; and from local home improvement stores like Sears and Lowes. Simply pick out your style of refrigerator -- side-by-side doors, French doors, top-mount or bottommount -- from the site or store.
Instructions
1. Pour a drop of dish soap onto a damp rag. Clean the refrigerator with the soapy rag to remove any residue that is on the refrigerator.
2. Measure your refrigerator with your measuring tape. You'll need a panel for the front of your refrigerator and -- at least -- half of both sides. If the sides are not exposed in your kitchen, you may only want to panel the front.
3. Cut the refrigerator panels with a pair of scissors. Make the front slightly bigger by one inch all the way around.
4. Dampen the refrigerator with a damp cloth.
5. Peel off the panel backing, and press it to the front of the refrigerator. Do this with the sides of the refrigerator as well.
6. Slide a squeegee along the refrigerator -- starting in the middle and working out -- to remove air bubbles.
7. Hold your measuring tape, extended, down the sides of the refrigerator. Using the tape as a guide, cut any excess panel fill off the edges.
