Did you know you can save money by combining sales and manufacturer's coupons?
Savvy shoppers will make the most of deals offered by stores and by the companies that make products. Although restrictions sometimes exist on combining these savings on a single sale, a consumer can usually take advantage of both an in-store sale and a cash credit provided by the manufacturer. A little research done ahead of time that takes into account both the store's policy and the manufacturer's policy can ensure you are able to stretch your dollar.
Instructions
1. Read the sales policy section on your store's website. Alternatively, you can read the flier in which the sale is advertised to see if there are any restrictions surrounding the sale. For example, you may see the phrase "cannot be combined with other sales or promotions," which would likely mean the store will not accept a manufacturer's coupon at the time of sale to be combined with a sale price.
2. Read the terms of use of the manufacturer's rebate coupon. This will normally be written on the coupon itself. Again, look for the absence of a phrase such as "cannot be combined with any other sales or promotions." If your manufacturer's rebate is redeemed by mailing the coupon to the company with a receipt from your sale, make sure there is no restriction on claiming a rebate on sale items.
3. Read store fliers regularly to catch a sale on the product for which you have a rebate coupon. Make note of the expiration date of your coupon and do not wait so long for a good store sale to combine it with that your coupon has expired and is no longer valid.
4. Purchase the item you are interested in while it is on sale. If your coupon is to be presented to the clerk at the time of purchase, do so at the beginning of the transaction. If your coupon is to be mailed to the manufacturer after purchase, buy the item on sale and follow the procedures for claiming the mail-in rebate. Include your receipt if necessary, and send all information to the company.
