Installation Instructions For A Thermador Stove Top

Thermador's gas heat element design provides more even heating.

Thermador has been a leading kitchen innovator for over a hundred years, having been the first to produce a built-in wall oven over 50 years ago. Their line of cooking appliances is vast, and they seem to always be coming up with better appliances, as well as options to make cooking more enjoyable. Owned by Bosch and Siemens Appliance Group, the third largest kitchen appliance maker in the world, their quality is exceptional. Among their most popular appliances is their gas stove top. Installing it does require basic skills and familiarity with gas hook ups.

Instructions

1. Remove the stove top from its packaging and flip it over on a clean, flat surface. Cover the pipe nipple, located in the lower right corner of the underside of the unit, with pipe sealant. Be sure to cover the entire circumference of the nipple and its threads. This is critical for a good, snug attachment of the regulator.

2. Adjustable wrenches used in tandem are ideal for tightening connectors.

Hand screw on the regulator, making sure to start it straight. Tighten it as far as you can with your hand; then, use an adjustable wrench for the final tightening. This is the crucial part of the installation, since this regulator maintains correct gas pressure to the burners.

3. Attach the flexible gas line by screwing it onto the regulator. Start it straight and tighten it with a pipe wrench. Turn the stove top over and gently set it into the prepared cutout for it. Make sure the flexible line does not get caught between the counter top and the edge of the unit itself.

4. Apply the same pipe sealant to the threaded end of the gas line coming into the house, located under the counter top. Again, make sure you coat the threads well with the sealant. Screw the gas pipe onto the end of the sealant-covered end of the gas line. Use one adjustable wrench to hold the gas line and another adjustable wrench to tighten the gas pipe onto the gas line stub.

5. Air bubbles similar to these will tell you whether you have a leak or not.

Spray a solution of dish detergent and water directly onto the connection you just tightened into place to check for leaks. Watch for any bubbles to appear, since bubbles are a sure sign of a gas leak. Use the adjustable wrenches to tighten the line; then, recheck for leaks, continuing the process of spraying and checking until no bubbles appear. Shut and check the valve and other gas pipe joints, in the same manner, to make sure they are not leaking.

6. Double check for leaks; then, open the gas valve fully and plug in the unit. Assemble the burners, set the grate and attach the knobs.
