Make holes in granite to accomodate your faucet and accessories.
If you're installing or modifying a granite countertop, you may find it necessary to drill a hole for a faucet, drain or other fixture. With the right tools, drilling a hole in a granite countertop is a relatively easy process. You can purchase diamond-coated drill bits at home improvement and hardware stores. You can use these bits with a standard drill to quickly make holes in your granite counters.
Instructions
1. Mark the countertop where the hole is to be drilled.
2. Insert the diamond-coated hole saw into the chuck of your drill. Tighten the chuck securely to hold the hole saw.
3. Place the end of the pilot bit of the hole saw on the mark. Drill at a medium-slow speed, keeping the hole saw flat to the countertop.
4. Stop drilling when the end of the pilot bit protrudes from the other side of the countertop. Place the end of the pilot bit into the pilot hole from the other side of the countertop.
5. Continue drilling at medium-slow speed, until the plug of granite comes out of the countertop.
