Hang Double Drawer Pulls

Double drawer pulls

It's not difficult to install double drawer pulls, but it does take a little time, precision and patience. Creating a beautiful new look by hanging handles or pulls on your kitchen cupboards, bathroom cabinets or dresser drawers is well worth the effort.

Instructions

1. Choose the area of the door or drawer where you want to install double drawer pulls. There is no right or wrong place. Place the handles where they look the best and where they will be convenient to use. Consider the height of both top and bottom cupboards and drawers, and make sure the pulls can be reached by everyone who will be using them regularly.

2. Mark the spot where you want to install double drawer pulls. Holding the handle or drawer pull in the spot where you would like to place it, use a pencil and make a light mark next to one place on the handle where the screws attach.

3. Use the level to create a straight line to install the double drawer pulls. Place the level next to the mark you made in Step 2. Using the level, lightly mark a straight line about the length of the handle or pull you are installing. Erase the mark you made in Step 2.

4. Hold the pull against the cupboard again, placing it right alongside, or right over, the straight line you just made. Make sure the handle is straight, using the line as your guide. Make a light mark next to each place on the handle where the screw attaches. These will be your most important marks, so take your time and be sure they are accurate. Pull the handle away from the cupboard, then place it back in the same spot again. Double-check the marks you made next to the screw attachments to make sure they really are in the right place. If not, erase them and start this step over again.

5. Drill holes in the cupboard or drawer where you want to install double drawer pulls using the marks you made. Drill all the way through the cupboard or drawer. After you have drilled the first hole, hold the drawer pull in its place on the hole and make sure that your second mark is accurately lined up before drilling the second hole.

6. Measure the distance of each hole from the nearest two edges of the door or drawer. Mark down these measurements for use on the remaining doors or drawers. Measure a second time to be sure your first measurements are correct. Use the measurements you just took to mark the rough location of where you will install double drawer pulls on the remaining drawers and doors. Then go to Step 3 and follow the remaining instructions until you have drilled holes in all the drawers and doors where you will be installing handles or pulls.

7. Holding the pull against the drawer, with the place where the screws attach firmly against the holes you just drilled, slide a screw from the back of the drawer or door through the hole and into the pull or handle. Continue holding the pull firmly against the cupboard, use a screwdriver to tighten the screws into the pull until it is firmly attached. Do the same for the remaining hole, and the other pulls.
