Remove Coagulated Soap In A Dishwasher

Empty the dishwasher before attempting to remove coagulated soap.

Coagulated soap in a dishwasher is almost always of the granular, powdered variety since liquid dishwasher detergent seldom coagulates and hardens inside the appliance. If you find a coarse, hardened mass of dishwasher soap, the dispenser cup may not be opening fully at the correct point in the cycle or the dishwasher may be overloaded. Don't chisel on the chunks of hardened soap with a knife or other sharp instrument since these could cut into the dishwasher lining.

Instructions

1. Set a tea kettle or sauce pan of water to boil on a stove.

2. Empty the dishwasher and slide out the lower rack, which typically lifts out so you can access the interior of the appliance.

3. Pour boiling water slowly on the coagulated mass of soap.

4. Scrub gently with the nylon brush as the soap softens and begins to dissolve. Add more boiling water as necessary until the coagulated soap washes away.
