A dishwasher is one of the most-used appliances in a kitchen.
There's no doubt that your dishwasher is one of the hardest working appliances in your kitchen. Over time, the continuous onslaught of hot water mixed with grease and leftover food particles results in rusted dishwasher racks. If the dishwasher runs well and quietly, there's no need to replace them because the racks are showing signs of wear. You can buy replacement racks or use some simple fixes to make the inside of the dishwasher look new again.
Instructions
1. Apply liquid electrical tape or vinyl touch-up paint to tines where rust has developed.
2. Slide replacement prong tine caps onto rack tines, to protect dishes from scratching.
3. Use a dishwasher cleaner or unsweetened lemonade powder to clean and refresh the inside of the dishwasher. Used monthly, this treatment will remove any soap scum build-up, will eliminate food stains and any water impurities or discolorations.
4. Upgrade your silverware basket with a new and improved model, which will provide a better rack position, and offers a removable lid.
5. Spray a protective coat of silicone spray to the entire rack and runners.
