Sears' Kenmore appliance brand offers different models of dishwashers, all with different cleaning features. Some of the reasons your dishwasher doesn't clean well may be related to using these features incorrectly, while other issues have component origins.
Rinse Aid
Some dishes may appear unclean, while in fact it's the residue left on the dishes after washing them in the Kenmore dishwasher. The white residue you see comes from the mineral deposits in your hard water. The company offers a rinse aid dispenser on most models to help with this issue.
Filter System
Most Kenmore dishwashers have a filter system to trap pieces of food and other particles left in the dishwasher. Some models even include a triple filter system; one filter traps objects so it doesn't enter the pump, another keeps food from recirculating and the third captures fine particles. If the filters become clogged with objects, the particles may end up on your dishes. Washing the filters regularly keeps food particles out of the dishwasher.
Loading and Settings
Loading dishes properly into the Kenmore dishwasher results in the best performance. Turn dirty dishes downward so the dishwasher's spray arms clean them the best. Some Kenmore dishwasher models have a "Turbozone" setting, in which case it's best to place the dishes directed towards the spray jets on the back of the dishwasher. The "Turbozone" option blasts more water at dishes to clean away the food more effectively.
