Granite countertops are a popular choice for kitchen and bathrooms because of the material's beauty, durability and easy cleaning. Granite is a hard stone but is also porous. If it isn't sealed properly, you may be cleaning the surface with bacteria and germs sitting in the pores below. Many people frequently steam clean granite floors but don't realize that steam cleaning a granite countertop is an easy and effective way to preserve the beauty of your granite and keep it sanitary.
Instructions
1. Clear the granite counter of items sitting on it. You want an open surface to clean the entire countertop.
2. Place the hand attachment on your steam cleaner. Fill the bladder of the steam cleaner with water and turn it on.
3. Place the towel over the attachment head and secure it in place with a rubber band. You want to keep the surface area of the towel taut over the nozzle to allow as much steam to penetrate as possible. Placing the nozzle directly on the countertop may scratch or nick the granite. The towel acts as a protective barrier.
4. Slowly work your way over the countertop, starting at the backsplash and pulling the nozzle toward you. Don't rush, as you want the steam to penetrate deep into the granite. Work your way across the entire countertop.
5. Allow the countertop to dry.
