Dishwasher rack rollers are replaceable.
The upper rack inside of a dishwasher moves via four to eight rollers attached to the sides of it. These rollers sit in two side tracks to make sliding the rack in and out effortless. Over time, the rollers may break or become difficult to move. In these cases, you can remove the old rollers and replace them with new ones. Replacement rollers are available from the original dishwasher manufacturer as well as aftermarket parts suppliers.
Instructions
1. Open the door of the dishwasher and pull the upper rack forward. Unload all dishes and glasses and set them out of the way in a sink. Pull the upper rack the remainder of the way out and wipe off any moisture with a rag. If the side tracks have an end cap, pull them off or push them outward before pulling the rack out of the dishwasher.
2. Turn the rack upside down on a sturdy work surface and look closely at one of the rollers. The roller may have a screw in the center or it may have a clip on the back of it.
3. Remove the roller by turning the center screw counterclockwise with a screwdriver, if it has a screw. If the roller has a clip, push it off of the dishwasher, rotating first if needed to clear the wires.
4. Insert a replacement roller into the same location as the old one and reinsert the screw tightly into the center with a screwdriver. Rollers with clips simply push onto one of the rack wires in the same location.
5. Replace each of the remaining rollers on the rack in the same manner.
6. Turn the rack over and slide it back into the dishwasher making sure that the rollers rest in top of the two tracks mounted on either side of the dishwasher. Replace or close the end caps on each side track.
