My GE Quiet Power 1 Won't Drain
The GE Quiet Power 1 dishwasher is an appliance that is no longer manufactured. The Quiet Power 1 includes a PowerScrub wash system that is designed to thoroughly clean your dishes, a Quiet Power motor and a delayed start feature. If you notice a small amount of water at the base of the dishwasher, you should not panic. This is clean water that is in place to keep the water seal lubricated. On the other hand, if you see a lot of water in the dishwasher after a cycle, this means the appliance is not properly draining.
Instructions
Basic Troubleshooting
1. Flip the disposal switch if the dishwasher is connected to a disposal. If the disposal is full, the dishwasher may not drain as it should.
2. Turn on the water in your sink to see how well the water drains. If the water drains slowly or not at all, you may need to call a plumber.
3. Remove debris from around the drain inside the dishwasher. This debris can restrict the flow of water from the appliance.
Clean the Air Gap
4. Turn off the dishwasher.
5. Lift the chrome cover that protrudes from your sink. This is the air gap cover. The air gap is not technically part of the dishwasher, and not all GE Quiet Power 1 dishwashers are connected to air gaps.
6. Unscrew the plastic cap.
7. Use a toothpick to move debris away from the air gap.
8. Replace the cap and the chrome cover.
