Troubleshoot a Kenmore Icemaker
Having an automatic icemaker in your home can be convenient, especially during hot-weather months. Kenmore is a brand name maker of several different home appliances, including icemakers. A Kenmore icemaker circulates water over a freezing plate to create ice. When it reaches proper thickness, the sheet of ice is released into a cutter grid that divides the sheets into cubes. If problems arise, you can troubleshoot your icemaker before calling a service technician.
Instructions
1. Look at the switch to ensure the unit is on, then check the fuse or circuit breaker if you have no power at all. Look at your room thermostat to ensure the room is warmer than 55 degrees Fahrenheit and at the drainage hose to ensure it is not bent or kinked.
2. Clean out the condenser on the icemaker and clean any scale build up if the unit is running but you see little production of ice. Replace the drain cap if it has come loose.
3. Clean the drain tube of debris and secure the drain cap if your unit is running but you see no ice production at all. Inspect the water supply hose and connect properly if it is loose.
4. Call your service technician if the "Clean" light flashes on and off repeatedly.
