Olive oil removes streaks and prints from stainless steel.
Stainless steel is used for many items around the home, including cookware, sinks, stoves, refrigerators, toasters, coffee makers and dishwashers. Stainless steel resists stains but that does not mean it will not stain or develop smudges. Hands deposit natural oils on any surface--handprints and fingerprints show up easily on stainless steel and may not wash off with soap and water. Other simple, inexpensive products do work at handling these unsightly prints, however.
Instructions
1. Put on rubber gloves. Saturate one corner of a plain white paper towel (ink from printed paper towels might transfer to the stainless steel) with either olive oil or baby oil, as suggested by Mrs. Clean USA.
2. Rub this over the handprints on the dishwasher. Make sure to go with the grain of the stainless steel--not against it.
3. Use a new paper towel, after you are finished, and saturate it with the oil as well. Rub this over the entire dishwasher surface to give it an even, polished look.
