Almost everyone uses some type of dish detergent in their homes. Dawn is a very popular brand. If your bottle is empty or nearly empty, you'll need to dispose of it, either by recycling it or throwing it away. The plastic bottles can be recycled easily; this is the recommended method.
Instructions
1. Remove the cap from the bottle of detergent. If any detergent is left in the bottle, consider waiting until it's completely empty to dispose of it. You can also drain the contents into another container.
2. Thoroughly wash the inside of the bottle to remove any detergent residue. Fill the bottle with water until the overflow is clear and free of suds.
3. Consider recycling the bottle. Plastics should be recycled, instead of thrown away; they take hundreds of years, possibly thousands of years to completely break down, according to Planet-Science.com. In addition, they often wind up in oceans, causing particular harm to ocean life. Plastic leaches harmful chemicals as it slowly breaks down.
4. Dispose of the bottle. If you are recycling it, bring it to a nearby facility. If you don't want to recycle it, simply throw it away.
